Hi Magma, Fostex has a nice tonal balance but if you are looking for speed, immediacy, dynamics and transparency nothing can beat a Lowther. It will sound a little lean so you will have to work on the cabinet design to overcome that

These are FE106's pr 104's or something like that right ?
Well regarded speakers in a TL style cabinet.
No idea about Lowther, no first hand experience with those. But I have sat infront of these in play. They sound great.
Cool.
Srinath.

prem bhai

youll lend me some money for the lowthers rite ?

yes the lowthers would be excellent
BUt arent the cabinets a bit umm ... big ?

@Magma,
Great looking driver and am sure will sound good too.

If you are keen i can design the ATL for you. BTW any TS parameters or model nbr?

NO
model number

the guy supplies oems

he says this is not a fostex generic driver
Maybe the TS parameters will tell you something

Quick simulation of the box gave me the following insights.
ATL BS not possible with this driver due to high Vas of this driver as per my design.

Will go well as FS - Height- 34" (with 2.25" spike in the bottom)
Width - 7.5" and Depth-14" (i am considering 18mm mdf board)

The foster 106 has a bamboo cone if I recall. And they modify the cone, after they do it it looks like you put a fork dipped in ink and touched it to the surface. Its a foster 126/108. I used to find threads on diyaudio about it.
Sorry its not exactly a TL cabinet, it needs a folded horn cabinet. Look for Saburo cabinet.

The insanity starts here -

Enjoy the ride.

Cool.

A quick simulation of the DX55 gave me the following dimensions for an ATL Due to the modest Vas and lower Qts value, it allows ATL BS design.

Height - 16", Width-8.5", Depth-9.25"

Yes yogi
I know about the alnicos

In fact I've already procured one
To be used in one of my projects

I find the fostex 108Fz sigma driver as a better balance of price and performance. ATL BS dimensions - H-16.5", W-7.5", D-14"

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
