I found this cool chart, it should be useful in speaker crossovers.
It can also be useful to really tweak the EQ.

No Indian instruments listed :(. Very much Western orchestral. Even electric/bass guitars, etc, are not there.

No offence, I love bass guitar, but I guess they are amongst the lowest of low ;)

I don't think that any of the Indian instruments are going to push the boundaries.

Interesting and correct observation! I wonder why.

Is it because Indian instruments are largely meant to back-up and supplement vocals, and are not meant to be played by themselves? And our vocal range is not that great. Unless of course, you try taking candy from a baby, and get treated to ultrasonics. Or if one forgets one's anniversary.

That was my first thought too, although I then asked myself how many concerts I had seen with a sitar as accompaniment!

There may be simple technical reasons too, such as the lesser range of tensions possible with simple strings on hand-made bodies.

Musical reasons might include the absence of, for instance, a bass line, in music which does not make extensive use of harmony.

Still: one can do a lot in an octave or three :)

God Forbid!

The study of typical responses to such a grave crime would necessitate the creation of a whole new frequency chart in itself....

Beginning from eardrum shattering high frequencies at the outer end of human hearing and moving down to total silence for days at the other end. And in some extreme cases, plumbing subterranean depths where the sound is not heard but felt....especially in the solar plexus....

That must be a Class W amplifier at work.

Amazing document!

The reason I say that is that it demonstrates the attention to technical detail of real engineers when dealing with sound. I do hope that there are still such people in broadcasting, at least in the national stations, these days.
