Hi Folks
I got a technical query, cannot see where else to post as there is no section for technical questions on electrical/electronics( if there is mods please move this there)
I got Logitech Z5450 from the US a few years back and was using them with a step down transformer. Just 1-2 times the fuse in the amp blew out, even though i had a surge protector.
Now i have moved to a new location and here the fuse has blown out 2-3 times.
The step down transformer has a rating of 600W and has a fuse of 5 A
The amp has a fuse - Slow Blow T4AL, 125V. Now i tried to rack my brains and figure out what is happening and all i can conclude is that the voltage input maybe about 250-260( as above 260 we have a central cut off) and the transformer is stepping down to 125V above which is blowing off the fuse?
Will putting a normal stabilizer help cause the surge protector i have is also not working in this case ( its rated max at 240V but not a great quality one)
Need someone who has elec fundas intact to guide!!! Also where to get a slow blow fuse T4AL? I saw that i have used F5AL, 250V fuse which blew off.
BTW had called up a couple of vendors for stabilizers and got all weird answers.
 
Better get a step down transformer that provides 110V at 260V input. Also add a cut off relay for high voltage.
 
Your voltage is too high. I suggest an online UPS to provide 110v power. Go to RS (Radio Spares) India for the fuse. T4AL means a Time delay fuse, 4 amps, Long delay.

The fuse might also open if you are playing at high volume levels, and there is not enough cooling of the Amp.
 
Basically what i need is something that can give 240V max input to my transformer. Now i have a fuse in the transformer, that is 6A. I think i will need something that will blow off if more than 250V comes in, how to do that?
Can i get a step down giving 110 at 260V input? I will never get more than 260V input as there is a cut off above 260V at the junction.
Online UPS: that is way too much to pay, i got an option to buy a Constant Voltage stabilizer at 3,500 but contemplating if that is necessary?
How about putting a belkin surge protector?
OR Will the V Guard Voltage stabilizers not work? I suppose that they will give output to max 240V in case voltage does not go above 260 as input( which in my case will not)

Option 1.It is possible to assemble a new step down transformer that can give 110V at 260V input.
Option 2. If you want to use a stabilizer, then buy one that can handle a load of more than 600W which is the wattage of your step down transformer. A vguard digi 200 is recommended.

Any vendors who can give me the step down transformer?
As for stab- will this not do- vgd or vgsd 100 from v-guard? They can handle 4Amp which means more than 600W at 220v? I guess they will regulate voltage to 230-240 for inputs upto 260( above 260 i do not get)
Even a belkin surge protector is marked at 1500w max(6A) i saw with max 250V. My device was running perfectly well all these years so wondering if need to spend that much now.
