Hey,

My uncle's visiting India in a month and I'm thinking about asking him to get that set for me. So I was wondering if anybody's done something similar before. Please note that these speakers are pretty large - a pair weighs 24 pounds, and stand 14'' tall.

I have imported desktop components, point-and-shoot cameras, CD players and other things before by making a friend/relative carry them for me but never anything so huge.

These speakers cost around $150 and are not available in India (I think). Anybody who has done a similar thing before and escaped customs, please reply.

Thanks

By a step down converter, you mean a transformer, right? The one that converts 220V to 110V? A cheap one won't do?

I don't know a lot about building home theaters. I just want to get a pair for listening to music, although I guess I could use them to build a home theater in the future. So, will I still need a high-end converter if my only use-case was listening to music hooking them to my desktop?

Also, I read somewhere that these speakers have a very low impedance (4 ohms) which means small electronics like ipod wouldn't be able to drive them to their best. In that case, would a decent desktop sound card be sufficient? I have a VIA VT1708S sound card (which I was told was a respectable sound card). I already have a logitech z623 which has a 6 ohm impedance and I can't seem to find a difference in the sound when I hook up an ipod or my desktop.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
