I am most happy to announce that I have finally bought B&W 685 bookshelves. Happy times ahead!

BTW I have been away from this group for some time because of too much work. Hopefully will get back into action.

Awesome Askii.... They are a good set of speakers provided you mate them to a good amp.......

What amplification are you planning on using with the 685's ?

Any thread on B&W's & the person to reply in a 'flash' literally WILL BE FM Flash :p

Askii, congrats! Take Flash's advise seriously on the amplification part, as the B&W's sure need quality & hi power amplification to make them sing, else they will not give you their optimum performance.

BTW, how much did you get them for & from where

:)

You need 100w/ch + amplification. As simple as that.
If you go for lesser powered amps, you will repent in long run.

Thanks everyone.

My PACE amplifier is obviously not upto the mark. I am going to try bi-amping them with TDA7293 DIY amp. I'll inform you about the results. If results are satisfactory, I'll also demonstrate in our next meet :-).

Askii,

Firstly, Congrats. I haven't heard them personally, but they surely are one of the most good looking ones.
How much did you shell for these? I have read over many posts, that they pair well with Rotel. Anybody heard them with Yamaha?

I heard them with Yamaha AS500 or 700 confused and they sounded pretty nice. But I also heard flash's setup with Rotel and it cannot be compared to the yamaha the rotel amplification made the speakers come alive.
after i went home after auditioning Wharfedale 9.6 and B&W at flash house i found it difficult to live with my KEF Q300. maybe forum member sagarvikram is in a similar state because he had heard flash setup as well probably thats why he is selling his speakers and amp

gaurav, who bought my 601s2s said on this forum that yamaha brought out their best. you might want to check it out.

I heard B & W 685 with Denon 1312. I made them play with Denon 1612 (@6Ohms its output per chanel if 120W & @8Ohms it is 75W). The mid range was great but Bass was bland. Overall it was 7/10.

A few months have passed since I bought them. I have been thoroughly enjoying them. Good money spent.
