Hi all,

I have attended today's epson's presentation at westin hotel, mumbai. I have been looking for my first projector for my new home, i was initially confused between panasonic AE7000 and Epson TW8000, but finally i've made my mind and decided to opt for TW8000 (for more lumens and quite cheap lamp price, it's only 12k).

I talked with quite a few dealers of epson and understood that the supply of the said projector is too less and they haven't got any TW8000s in a recent time. An executive informed me that some pieces of TW8000s should arrive by the first week of september.

So, if there are some other people who're looking forward to buying the same, a group buy would be a good option, i've taken the contact no of the guy from the epson..

If anyone interested in group buy, please email([email protected]) or contact me on - 9820998804.

Bhavesh Mandalia.

PS : They didn't have TW8000 for the demo also, but i saw TW6000's result and quite liked it, based on that i assumed TW8000 would be a notch better only since there is huge difference in contrast ratio and lumens. Still i would love to see panasonic AE7000 and Epson Tw8000 back to back, has anyone compared both the projectors in first hand?? would be great if you can share your views.

Hmm I too faced this problem when I tried to organize a TW6000 Group buy... I was talking to the epson guy trying to negotiate a group buy for 5 projectors he informed me they had imported only 4 TW6000s & 1 of them was already booked... Frankly speaking these epson projectors are very well priced in India so I am guessing the demand is more than the supply(thus effecting the chance of negotiating a group buy)... As I have pointed out before we here in India are getting the TW8000 at the same price or cheaper than the US which is a big achievement by epson... Anyway best of luck on ur groupbuy & do remember to try to negotiate a price with Varay Image runners Mumbai... Out of the 30 odd dealers I contacted during the TW6000 groupbuy they were the only ones who gave a decent price & response...

BTW TW8000 vs Panny AE7000 is really a moot point... TW8000 is 1.4-1.5 lacs & AE7000 is 2.20 lacs with bill & warranty... According to reviews AE7000 is slightly better in 3D while the epson TW8000(5010) is better in 2D... For the past few years epson has consistently won the top prize in the $2000-3500 price range in the US because of its best in class blacks & good bright image...Personally even if the price was the same I would still consider the TW8000 a better buy over the AE7000 as 90% of the time we are most likely to watch content in 2D rather than 3D & Epson has better blacks (according tot he reviews) & a longer warranty(2yrs vs 1 yr on the panny)... To each their own...

a surprising thing that epson employee told me that from the past 5-6 years there has been no change in the price of the lamp, it used be around 20-24k.. but in this july epson drastically reduced the price of the same lamp to 12k!!(which goes on for TW8000) where as Panny AE7000 lamp costs 32k!! Hell of a difference!

Guys! Time to curb our enthusiasm - I spoke with a Epson representative today and found out out that Epson India isn't selling TW8000 currently. It came out some time ago but found to have some technical glitch and so were recalled. Epson India will officially re-release TW8000 after 2-3 months (after fixing the problem) and only then the dealers will get them. There is no fixed date/timeline for this. Therefore no point booking beforehand.

Put me on the tentative list for the Group buy for the TW8000 in Blore. Want to see a demo -- before I decide. Based upon the latest info looks like it could be a while

Hi,

We might confirm the deal today(3 of us), we've got 1.40 lac all inclsuve quote from a dealer in mumbai. In case if u r interested pls pm. Delivery expected in 45 days.

Thanks,
Bhavesh

Name of dealer if it's other than varay... Would be a good option for negotiating when someone wants an epson projector :) ...

Hi Bhavesh Epson TW 8000 is a good buy at this price. Only problem is the delivery schedule. Varay is a reputed dealer as you have told that product will be available in 45 days, thats a point which I am not sure if the promise is from Epson then its okay as ultimately Varay or any other dealer will depend on the OEM

I am guessing this is the reason for the delayed shipping... Apparently they are fixing the small "issues" that 5010 had like a little lag while playing games & improving the 3D glasses etc... Hopefully u guys will get the newer model when u get delivery :) ...

rajadeep,

The Epson 5020 will be a new model for year 2012 end/2013 and will have new pricing. Whatever fixes/improvements are being done to it will have no bearing on 5010. If those are important, better to wait for it.

Another thing with 5020 - those will come with 2 pairs of 3d glasses. The current 5010 does not. so another thing to think about it.

Epson officials also said so, that even if 5020 is coming, it will come in 2013 only.. no such announcement of new projector anytime soon.

Interesting! The only really usable thing for me in 5020 (which I will miss in TW8000) is dynamic iris in 3D.

I will suggest that TW6000 is the best option available and the price is very attractive.
Also if you are extremely bent on buying TW 8000 then stretch your budget and go for PAnasonic 7000

^^^ Who exactly is this advice directed at??? TW6000 & TW8000 are in totally diff leagues altogether... Also paying 50-70k more for a AE7000 does not seem worth it to me...
