Just wondering if any FM have contemplated a group trip to Dubai or SGP for buying AV equipment together? It should be fun hanging out, sharing experiences and of course negotiating discounts on group buys.

Any thoughts ....

Not a bad idea. dont mind going to Dubai during the dubai shopping festival. Need to get hold of a good AV receiver and some book shelves if possible. My next purchase wish list

I will be in Hongkong on 8-10th Jan.

Anyone up for a group buy / taking a stroll / catching up for a drink / savor some local food? I do have two stuff on my mind. A DAC and an Amp. But not sure of buying. Will be fun to explore the city together though.

Thanks @ Ranjeet and Prasanth..
I am in the market for an amp, speakers and CDP if the price is right. Would be nice to buy atleast 1 or 2 at a cheaper price overseas.

HK around 8/10 Jan would be too early but i miss the dim sum and sushi in HK. Enjoy Lan Kwai Fong for me n go easy on them asian chicas :-)

Prasanth: im keen in DXB too .. maybe end Jan or later. Prices are way too cheap there ..

Cheers!

Great Vishal
I am just about to finish up with my tv and blue ray player purchase. Not sure if I would have enough cash to again spend on a AV receiver and speaker which are next on my radar. But let's see how thing shape up.. I am anyways keen to go to Dubai and visit the Ferrari park there and probably do some shopping there.
When is the dxb shopping festival and what is your budget for the amp?

Purchasing amp, CDPs etc abroad is cheaper and convenient. Other stuff, not worth the trouble usually.

Well I survive on Dimsum  and drowned in Asian chicas :p

OHHH !! I love dim-sums!!! :))
Ranjeet, if it is no trouble, can you see what a SONY RX-100 camera costs there please. It is a small pocketable camera and I have a few friends who go up and down who could pick it up for me (so no worries about that), but only worth troubling them if the price difference is worth the effort.
If you are busy and perhaps may not be able to make the time - please do not worry about it.
Thanks a ton!!

If you can stretch it, I really mean it when I say that the NAD375 I have for sale has hardly been used. It would be worth it but I can understand if it is outside your budget.

for your info.. hificity in dxb has the foll prices.. Nad C275.. aed 5000 /- & nad C356.. aed 2700 /- . The Dirham is Rs 15 these days..

Dear Staxxx:

Thank you for your offer but I feel it will be an overkill for me. I am just building out my setup and feel i would not be able to appreciate and harness the true power of the 375.. But look forward to the audiophile journey ...

Sure, will do. Though my past experience has been that there isn't much difference in Camera prices last few years. In fact at time I have seen India prices to be slightly (only slightly) better than US prices. Strange but true. Besides, the grey market in India is a lot more cheaper than official market, so makes no sense to buy abroad and sacrifice the warranty upfront.
