Harmony 200 stopped working

I have been using a Harmony 200 remote for many years now.
Today I find it is not working.
I did a factory reset on the Harmony and then tried to get it working again.
Reached as far as "add devices". Then I need to connect the Harmony with the PC.
Just won't connect.
I have tried three different PCs and four USB cables but it won't begin to sync.

Google is my saviour
Managed to get it working.
Entered the room in the dark and saw lights flashing on the remote.
It had gone into safe mode.
Hadn't realised it earlier since the room was well lit and maybe the flashing lights hd not been visible.

remote has a safe mode ? dont tell me the Virus scared it !!
