Starting this thread to pool in the issues currently faced by the HATHWAY HD users.

Issue #1: The picture freezes a couple of seconds and then plays smooth for 5-10 mins and freezes again. This frequency varies.

Should this be taken up with the LCO or the Hathway? Please post if anyone is able to identify the root cause of the issue and possible solution.

lso, the channels count is nearly 20..any HD channels coming up?

You should ask your LCO to check the signal strength. Looks like signal issue.

Yes, currently 20 HD channels are there. The plan is to add 10 more HD channels soon.

Gents - Can any of you please post a picture of the Hathway HD STB (rear side). What are the outs available? Does the STB have HDMI or an Optical Out or even both?

I am planning to get the HD STB at home. Also, what do you reckon of the quality of the 20 HD Channels?

I have bought a HD set top box last year for around 5.5k... But there was some voltage problem and the component in got burned.. When gave it for repair at the Service center, the guy says it cannot be repaired and I need to get a new one... Cant it be repaired... Guys help me out.. The deadline for set-top boxes is fast approaching....

The service guy may be true, the LCO should have checked the power input to the STB, These STBs are not from reputed brands which have stringent Quality control procedures in place. I saw a lot of STBs at the Hathway office lying all over the floor hapazardly.

I happened to face a similar issue with my Samsung PS43D490, the AV inputs got burnt due to the power from the RF cable. The picture appeared pale and burnt, but the other ports viz. HDMI, Component were working fine. I could clearly come to a conclusion that the RF cable tv line was carrying electrical power which the AV out of the STB transmitted back to the TV.

There is a power nullifier adapter which can be used to input to the STB, but the signal strength will drop and HD freezes frequently.

The warranty might be void as it is related to voltage.

Hello I know that this might come in as random
but I am an hathway HD user from Vile Parle East and I have had no problems with the service up until yesterday where the HD service stopped working randomly. I get the error message "Please call your cable operator/Hathw@y official to subscribe to this chanel" My subscription is valid and isn't supposed to be renewed till January 2015. :(
I just want to know whether anyone else is getting this error message ?

Hi

I am a Hathway user for the past 13 years minimum and as the years have gone by Hathway has gone down in providing quality service or even set top boxes.

I still use an old STB (Humax) which was the first line of STBs introduced when CAS was rolled out. I did not find any value add to go for HD service as there was barely 20 channels which I watch and secondly working for 5 days a week from 9am till 8pm added to my decision.

I do agree that the HD clarity would be better on my LED TV but I managed to maintain the STB I am currently using, only was repaired once to change a capacitor. (Rs 200). To improve the picture quality, I am using a Thick Component cable (RGB) which has improved the video and sound quality.

Hathway is known for disruption in service and I have faced it many a times. My mom knows the South Mumbai area manager and tends to call him up till he fixes the issues as she is a big follower of STAR PLUS / SONY / COLORS for the soaps!

Quick solution for freezing STBs is to restart the same. Unplug the power supply, wait for 5 minutes and re plug the same. Remove and re insert the SMART card.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Can you connect a component cable (RGB) to that old Humax set top box? Presently I am using that composite red white yellow cable. Was wondering if I can actually attach a RGB component cable to it. Does it really improve the SD picture clarity and sound?

Am from Mumbai.

Thanks
