Hi all,

I am from Bangalore and using Hathway STB (ND-1200C). I have noticed that screen length is cropped horizontally when compared to other DTH operators. This I have noticed when I was watching cricket matches and during run out replays, not able to see the stumps some times but if I use EPG view window I could see the stumps in that small window.

It crops nearly an inch on either sides and stretches to full screen and looks most of them are like fat people.

Please let me know is this a set top box problem or Hathway signal is like a cropped lengthwise?

Expecting an early reply

Raj

is it Hathway HD or Hathway SD box. try setting aspect ratio in your TV and see if it works.. try 16:9 else Just Scan. either of them should work out.

Thanks for the reply,

using Hathway SD STB, I also tried both options as specified, still not getting the right result.

Used 16:9 aspect ratio and stretch option for 4:3 it gets still zoomed in.

For ex: in today's cricket match, I could not see the logos of australia or south africa on the left and right end sides of bottom bar. I could see that in EPG section preview window.

Any one facing this problem.

Check your TV setting to see if it is set in zoom mode? If it is LCD/LED tv, set the option to 16:9 or screen fit(or something similar)

For your reference, Just now I have captured an image of the live cricket match, if you observe there will not be any SA emblem visible at the left hand side of the bottom score bar but it is visible in EPG view also in other DTH operator like Airtel.

Thanks for viewing

Please observe the red circled areas of both images, that will give the real idea.

Hi Gopichand,

Thanks for your input. I have checked TV settings set to Auto mode, that will be the zoom out mode and other settings also checked still facing this issue. Is this normal in Hathway SD STB which I wanted to know.

instead of auto set it to 16:9 and also in Hathway box >system setup > password (0000). check output to 4:3 pillar box or 16:9. set both on 16:9 and it should work.

Thanks for your input, I have tried your option 16:9 with pillar box for 4:3 it shows all logos fully!!!! but reduces the screen length as shown in the attachment.

I dont have screen fit options or zoom option horizontally in Saamsung TV

Tried other combinations such as stretch and pan scan did not work, only pillar scan works with 16:9 but reduces the screen. Any input please.

I just checked. This issue is from hathway end. However, the best setting is to set tv to 16:9 and in stb select 16:9 for tv size and panscan for 4:3 format

Hi Gopichand,

Thanks for the clarification, please let me know if you get any further info on this issue from Hathway, just for curiosity.

Thanks again

This is no issue bro. It all depends on TV size, in smaller TV's some picture does get cut. Its normal. Use Screen Fit aspect ratio option for ur TV , it will reduce this issue

Plus the match u r viewing is being shot in HD and broascatsers use cropped use to fit in the standard definition format so some picture gets cut in SD

Thanks dino29,

so, I have to use HD set top box instead of SD STB to view the screen with out cropping on the TV.
In my TV screen fit is disabled for RCA cable input but manual info states that screen fit available for HDMI input.

Thanks again for sharing info
