HD26 projector

Hi everyone ! I purchased optoma hd26 yesterday and a friend will be carrying it for me from the US. Will there be any issues with respect to custom duty in this case ? Also i am planning for Truedepth firestorm LT lightweight 3d dlp active glasses for my projector. Are they good with hd26 ? Even I am planning to go with a 110 inch liberty grandview for my hd26 from a distance of 14 feet. Is it a good screen ?

If the invoice receipt is less than 45k based on the dollar value conversion on the day of the landing, then customs will let your friend go but sometimes you never know how they think.
You can get DLP link glasses from True depth (go for XL Premium) or RF kit with emitter and glasses from Optoma (ZF2300)
Some of the glasses do not work well when you sit behind the projector (TRUE Depth may have some issues around it) and may not fit with your facial structure (it may not sit well on the nose and it may keep falling off)
110 ft screen is fine, Liberty grandview is okay.

My friend bought it for me and no questions asked at Customs..

I have already placed an order for truedepth firestorm lightweight. Will it be really uncomfortable ? I have read a lot of good reviews about it. Is it fine if the projector and me are both at the same distance from the screen ? How is the rainbow issue on this one ? Can it be corrected ? Any of you has any clue as to which is a good place in mumbai to purchase a screen from at a good price and any alternatives to liberty grandview in the same range . I know these are too many questions at a time bit you can understand my excitement :p :)

Hi folks,

Need some help here plz.

I have just hooked my new HD26 and planning to project on 120" screen already in place.

when i switch it on ,it projects the image on the ceiling. I tried to play with the settings image shifting V/H , tilting projector by lifting it from the rear but couldn't resolve . half the image is still on the ceiling .

Projector is placed in shelf which is mounted on the back wall at approx. 8.5 feet from the floor.

Distance from screen to lense is 14 feet.
floor to bottom of the screen is 3 feet

Can someone please help with finding proper settings to project image properly on the screen?

thanks !

congrats on ur purchase.
Try adjusting the feet. You have to place it in slanting position

or place it inverted

Ok buddy that is not correct. The way you have placed projector in that box is how it is supposed to be placed on a coffee table hardly a feet from the floor (not touching the ceiling). then from that low level when it goes towards screen, it fits. It simply means that the light goes from projector in an upwards angle not straight. Imagine taking that coffee table to your ceiling. thats what is happening to you right now.

What you need to do is invert the projector upside down in the same wooden box where it is placed now. Else get it ceiling mounted without the box. In all ceiling mounts, the projectors are upside down. Making it upside down will essentially turn ur imaginary coffee table upside down and image will come from projector at ceiling towards screen in a downwards angle. Rest minor adjustments can be done by V / H /Keystone adjustments by remote.

thanks Htfan17, i got a chance today to try what you said and that helped a lot. while selecting projector i think i underestimated the power of lense shift feature.

there is a slight problem of ceiling fan which is right in the middle between screen and projector.

without doing any changes in image shift options, small shadow of ceiling fan's portion appears right below of top black border. If i vertical shift -30 i.e. 4 inch down from where top back bar end , then ceiling fan doesn't obstruct. with this the image is still 10-12" above the bottom of screen. and slightly goes out horizontally as well.

apart from physical positioning of projector , what are other methods i can try adjust image properly or fill screen area proportionately ? any sample media / movie to try?

thanks guys for all the help and your time.

.

For starters, choose a movie without black bars. Try a movie which covers the entire 16:9 screen. (I am assuming your screen format is 16:9). If that fits end to end by all experiments, you are good to go for any movie.

Avatar, Up, Hurt locker, The Intern, Toy Story, Sherlock Holmes (1st part), Avengers (1st) are all movies shot in 16:9 (also called 1.78:1) full screen format.
