HDMI cable help needed

Hi,

I have a DVD player, I want to upscale the output to HD using HDMI cable. Which cable should I go for HDMI 1.3b from ebay.in is costing around 150 rupees. The LG home theatre that I have is HT502 that claims to convert DVD to 1080i quality.

You can use any ordinary HDMI cable. You won't get much PQ improvement using the upscale option.

Although its always better than analog output. you can purchase 150 one.

I tried using the HDMI cable that came with my Tata Sky+ HD. I see the PQ bloated, anybody have any idea if HDMI cable quality matters? Does gold plated ones available on ebay are better and will it provide better PQ?

For your setup most likely the cable quality won't matter.

Ya I realised it quite late. I bought 2m Prolink HDMI cable for Rs. 800 but I could not find any difference in PQ/ SQ with a local made cable bought for Rs. 200

You can go for a cheap HDMI cable for 150. The PQ is going to be the same when compared to expensive cables. But that doesnt mean that all the cheap ones will be of the same quality. You should be very careful when buying them. Should go and check it immediately and return it if the quality is unacceptable. If the quality is unacceptable it means, there is some issue with the cable or the cable has gone bad. So it either works good or works with unacceptable quality or doesnt work.

There was an option to change the resolution to 1080i on my DVD player, when I changed it to 1080i I get much finer and clear picture quality.

Need HDMI Cable to connect my Samsung LED TV to my laptop.
Any good suggestion? Based on the suggestions given here looks like I can go for a less priced one for Rs 150. Can someone please give me details? Place to buy?

I bought one for 150. don't find any problem in picture Quality.

I bought it from Local Supplier not ebay.

I don't find problem in picture Quality but TV detect it as 576i. When I talk to Supplier, He say's that you won't get exact 1080p in china made cable even though they mention it. If you want exact 1080p then go for branded like Belkin

In this thread as well as the other thread I found people saying the brand wouldn't matter much. Here you are saying other way around. I don't mind spending few bucks to get better quality.

You are getting 576i because it is the resolution set by your player. These cheap cables will handle 1080p with ease. Which player are you using?

Buy a branded cable if your player and TV are separated by a large distance like 15 feet. For 2 - 3 meters these cables will work fine.

I am using Asus O Play Mini. There I have done 1080p on setting. But still getting the same

change the resolution to 1080i and see if its accepted by the display. If it does, then turn off things like Deep color. sometimes that causes incompatibilities with display or the cable.
