HDMI cable help needed

Guys where can I get cheapest HDMI 1.4 cable. I got one HDMI 1.3 for Rs 149 from ebay. Any links?

only get 1.4 if your devices support 1.4, else go with 1.3. HDMI 1.4 will not work if all your devices only support 1.3

why do you need 1.4? There is hardly any content for supporting its resolution or the 3D format. All the other new features such as Audio return from TV to AVR etc. will come in probably 2 future generations of TV.

The only advantage I see now is that you can ethernet via HDMI

I have a general question here.
Though I know there are 2 different kind of HDMI cables: 1.3 and 1.4/1.4(A) ; but I have not seen any HDMI cable explicitly mentioning as 1.3/1.4/1.4(A) on the cable itself or in its package specification. Instead, there are few terms mentioned such as "High Speed HDMI Cable" or 'HIGh Speed with 3D" or "3D with Ethernet" or simply "HDMI cable". Sometime I saw 'Gold Plated High Speed HDMI".
Why isn't there any direct HDMI specification on cables which says it's 1.3 HDMI cable and the other one is 1.4 HDMI cable ????
Hope you understand what I'm trying to say !

The pack or box will always specify 1.4 or 1.3, even on ebay if you look in the description it will always tell you 1.4 / 1.3. Most regular HDMI cables sold are 1.3 unless otherwise specified as 1.4

I read something that would answer your question in the below link.
HDMI

There it's mentioned that companies shouldn't be mentioning 1.3 or 1.4. in the specs.

Thanks for your answers.

@Aakash: To be honest, I have never seen packaging mentioning as 1.3/1.4. On online portal, they have to mention it as 1.3 or 1.4 to sell the item. But in reality, when you get the package...you may not see original packaging mentioning as 1.3 or 1.4.
I saw the Wiki page and it seems a sort of HDMI protocol that companies are not mentioning HDMI version directly on it.
Still curious, why so ?

Most of the names that sell cables like MX, Bandridge, Audioquest, Chord, QED, Belkin, Monstercable, etc.........all do have the HDMI version on them. If I am buying a local unbranded one and if nothing is mentioned chances are they are 1.3. But if I really need 1.4 I would look somewhere where it says 1.4. Even the 10m HDMI 1.4 cable I picked up on ebay clearly says 1.4 printed on them.

I think you are over complicating things here. For 5.1 surround, connect your STB to the AVR instead of the TV with an optical or digital coax cable. For pic, connect your STB to your TV via HDMI or your AVR to TV via HDMI. You are done!

Bro, my primary purpose here is to connect TV to the AVR to get the Audio out of TV using ARC. I tried current HDMI Cable and it's not working. Onkyo guy suggested that I need to replace HDMI 1.3 with 1.4 ver.

My apologies, i did not get that from the thread because it went to ARC discussion without the context.

Based on your dealer's suggestion, make sure your cable is "high speed" vs. "standard". HDMI versioning is not a legitimate way to distinguish the cables.

HDMI :: Resources :: FAQ

Right now the cables can only be called:

standard, high speed, standard with ethernet, or high speed with ethernet

The 'with ethernet' option is absolutely useless esp. with the wireless capabilities of the devices including blu-ray players and network media servers.

So any, high 'speed' variant cable should suffice for you. monoprice and blue jeans are the cheapest ofcourse.

HDMI cables are High Speed & Standard and have nothing to do with version numbers.

You may try this - Belkin High Speed HDMI Cable with Full HD Support | eBay

btw - stupid question - I hope you have ARC enabled in both AVR & the TV.
