HDMI cable help needed

I got from ebay at Rs 165/-, I was able to change setting on my LG hometheatre DVD player to output 1080i, changed setting on TV to have input at 1018i. The Picture Quality is not as great as real HD picture that I see on Tata Sky or from HD media that I play through USB but it is acceptable. We can't expect to get good HD types PQ from DVD output

This cable would be used between my laptop and the LED TV. I think most of the guys here are suggesting based on whether I will connect a digital media player or DVD player.
So if I'm trying to connect my laptop to the TV which cable should I go for? Distance should not be more than 3 meters.

It doesn't matter, you can use any kind of HDMI1.3 or 1.4 cable. I don't think the PQ will degrade if you use expensive or cheap cable.
Discarding every once opinion, return China Made cable and bought Belkin 1.8m HDMI cable for 600.

I told you before you will not get any difference in PQ using expensive of china made cable. Good to know you found the correct resolution settings. I was wondering why you are playing the media through your laptop? You don't have USB in your TV?

So guys finally what are my options?
Not through Laptop, Using Media Player. Actually I didn't check properly but after I bought new one, I check setting thoroughly and find the same. Any way, Other get clear message that there is no need to go for Branded one. Any cable worth 150-200 Rs. will solve you purpose.

I am using these nylon braided ones and they work fine. The only problem is that the cables are very stiff.

I agree that they are stiff and not so flexible so better to go for a flixible one.

I'm using a no name cable for 15 feet run between my bluray player and projector. Excellent quality and no difference when compared to a 6 feet hdmi from wireworld.

Ok Guys finally bought the HDMI cable but when I connect the laptop to the TV. I find the Video is not coming as desired. Audio is fine. It looks as if the video is playing in slow motion. Could this be due to not so good HDMI Cable?

Which player are you using? Have you adjusted HDMI settings in display?
Upscaling is done by the DVD player and not by the cable. The cable just acts as a medium of transmission between the dvd player and the tv. The final pic quality is dependent on the quality of the video chip integrated in the dvd player. Also ensure you have enabled upscaling to 1080i in the menu of the dvd player.
Do not waste money on expensive HDMI cables. Any regular 1.3 HDMI will suffice.

By player do you mean on the laptop? It's actually VLC Media player and Windows Media Player.
I did twiddle with the HDMI settings. Anything specific that I should check on?
