Hi Guyz,

Just thought will share my experience.

I switched my Audio Out from Optical Cable to HDMI Cable to listen music.

Basically disabled Optical Cable output from my Sony DVD player to Onkyo receiver and connected through HDMI Cable and i felt a significant improvement in sound quality espescially the Bass :).

Any comments, Is HDMI the best option compared to Optical or Co-axial output for sound as well?

Strictly speaking in terms of connectivity options, HDMI is the best for both audio and video.

But this need necessarily for all audio connectivity. A good quality optical or coaxial cable could provide better audio quality as compared to HDMI. Depends on a lot of this including the way the sound is mixed, and the quality of cables.

BTW, due to some rights protection issues, HDMI will not carry multi channel LPCM, and you may necessarily have to use coaxial or optical if you listen to SACD or DVD-A.

Cheers
