Headphone DAC/Amp ~100$ ?

Mates,

Can anyone suggest me a good DAC/Amp, my HF is beyer DT 770 pro 250ohm.

I have tested it with fiio E5 (friends) which doesn't seems to be impressive.
there is an amp on sale by one of our member :- Pro-Ject HeadBox II http://www.hifivision.com/sale-owner/27743-musical-fidelity-v-dac-mf-v-can-pro-ject-headbox-ii.html)
which doesn't seems to be quite a good match for the HF.

im quite confused at this point of time after so many reviews in various headphone forums.

Portability is not my concerns, desktop dac/amp is preferred.

I'm thinking of connecting it with my SPDIF out in my sound-card which will leave my current setup unchanged., USB version will not support sampling rate of 24/192k.
Should i wait for E17 or go with some other FiiO ?

Anyways i want to star clean-slate based on your suggestion to feeb my basshead cans, with INR 6,000/- maximum budget (+/- always there)

edit:- 96 kHz sampling rate is the minimum i need

Check Fiio & NuForce in that budget.

Arcam also has one in the R series (IIRC) but I believe it costs more.

Nothing at 100 dollars. The cheapest DAC amp at this price is the FiiO e7 but it supports USB only. E9 has good amplification but no DAC.

The e17 will be around 300 dollars.

You best bet will be in the 200 dollar range. Calyx coffee or audio engine.
Nuforce ones at 100 dollars will not do 24 bit.

$200 should not be problem if i'm getting right stuffs, i mean its should justify the priceerformance ratio

The fiio E17 has good reviews on head-fi at 140 dollars and has an spdif input. This does do 24/96 over usb and 24/192 over spdif.

The Nuforce 2 $119 is good vfm. Only the higher versions (149 dollars and higher) have asynchronous USB.

keeping in mind that that it will be a kind of blind purchase, im still not able to decide.

currently i have certain products in mind,

• Cambridge Audio DACmagic 100,
• Pro-Ject HeadBox II
• confused about which fiio model.
• Maverick Audio TubeMagic A1 Amplifier / Maverick TubeMagic D1 DAC

for DacMagic 100, i called Audio Planet (koramangla), but its seems they are not interested in selling CA products.

what you guys think about the TubeMagic A1 ?
