Guys there is a major and a weird problem of Over Heating with this projector. I was watching a movie yesterday when the electricity was out, so AC went dead, rest of my system is on, online UPS connected to 1.5KVA sine wave inverter so rest of the equipment kept on working. After a while I got this message from projector that its overheating and I should clean the air filter. Air filter obviously was clean as its a new projector. I switched it off, and powered it on after some time. Initially for 10-12 min it played fine when again I got the same message.

Frankly the room did go hot but not like I was not able to sit through. Mean time the light came back AC was on and I did not get any such message after that.

Today the same thing happened, when electricity wet out again. I checked the manual and was surprise to see the operating temp range for this projector to be just 5-35 C!!!. 35?? I mean for we North Indians 35 Room Temp is like Normal, I mean yes it dose feel hot but we are used to it, I guess.

Now I am in a big fix, I can not watch a movie without an AC!! WTH! .... There is a small fan that is mounted on one of the side wall, which provides me decent enough air so as that I am atleast able to sit. There is one exhaust fan as well that is always on when I watch a movie.

I am disappointed and a bit confused as well how to tackle this issue ...??

ANyone else with 2030 (TW5200) facing the same issue, is it an isolated case ...???? Any inputs from any one.

AFAIK room temperature of 35 degrees Celsius is definitely excessive. Even if the outside temperature is 45 degrees, room temperature should not exceed 30 degrees.

With 6100, i haven't seen my PJ switching off due to overheating but then i cannot watch a movie without AC for too long. The longest i have tried this was probably like 30 mins or so but the PJ didn't shutdown. Could be the difference in normal temperatures between my place and yours. But it gets really hot in there if there is no AC - tough to concentrate on the movie.

Well the proj. didnt shut off, but it kept blinking that orange temperature light and a message was popping up on the screen. I thought to shut it off myself thinking I might damage the proj ...

Mysore is not that hot as compared to Delhi I am sure. Plus where I stay that is Ghaziabad the electricity cut is really bad, so I have all sorts of backup, which can run all of my equipment except AC. But this new development have me, made sure that AC is on which is not always possible given the electricity situation here ....

I am really in a fix .... atleast in summers

Are you running the projector in normal mode or eco? Eco mode runs quite cooler. Also make sure both the vents are quite clear of any nearby objects.

No I have not tried eco mode ,,,, will give that a try, and yes all vents are absolutely clear as the projecter hangs right in the middle of the room .....

Will give eco mode a try.

I am going to order this LCD Hygrometer to see if actually the room temperature is going beyond 35, when AC goes off.

^^ lol did you even read my OP above ....

Anyway since you brought this thread to life ..... manoj.p suggestion did work and I was able to continue my Projector on ECO mode ... so yea that situation was resolved ...

So, we have to run projectors on Eco mode in a non AC environment? Is this only for LCD based units or applicable to DLPs as well?

An Epson dealer here in Calcutta once told me that imported units have over heating issues. But India specific units don't. But I thought that was sales talk because the 5200 is not just India specific.

Well In june/July without AC its anyhow impossible. But yes I would agree the operating temp of 35C did seem less to me ...... thank god ECO mode does not take much of performance hit, infact with 2030, in full darkness, ECO mode does not bother at all.

And this is 2030 specific details. 5200 is ASIA model so it might hold some truth that it is better equipped for India ...not sure though.
