A friend of mine wants to buy a 2.1 system for listening to music(mostly rock/metal) in his living room which is about 11x13 ft. He'll also be okay with a soundbar, if the sound is exceptionally good, although his preference will still be a 2.1 system. His budget is between 25-30k. Since I only know about home theaters, I need help from you guys on this. Thanks in advance. :)

Swan M50W comes to mind.

Thanks for your help. These speakers have just one analog input and look more suitable for a desktop PC. Can you suggest me more options in 2.1 which have more inputs?

I would suggest the below route, if your friend is fine with used AVR....

The best way to handle this is to look for an used Non HDMI receiver for 10 - 12K Max & a new pair of bookshelf speakers for 10K....& later he can add a new subwoofer (or) used subwoofer.... This way you get 2.1 system..

The above option is better than Soundbar @25K...You will get many inputs

How do I write a new question ? This website is confusing !!! All I wanted to know is how do I buy a latest Caska Touchscreen Audio System for my Camry

Thanks a lot. I agree. I've never believed in soundbars myself. And had it been me, I would have done what you've suggested. But my friend wants something visually appealing(don't kill me for this) too. And he wants to include the subwoofer in this budget although he will be okay with no subwoofers if the speakers are full ranged. Can you please suggest me something along these lines?

Np.. i Completely understand....

Take a look @Sonodyne Exbar soundbar...

Sonodyne ExBar 300 b Active Soundbar

Check with your friend if the looks are appealing..If so they would serve him better...I believe the sound-bar has two analogue inputs....

AFAIK, There isn't any 2.1 speaker set in the market with these inputs. Swan M50W is a lot better speaker than any other 2.1's available in the market at the same or even more price.

Where can I get a demo of Swan M50W in India?

Can I also get some suggestions for a good Hi-Fi system within 30k. Thanks in advance :)

@ 30K, you can consider the Audio Engine A5 (bamboo version)..Looks good... Check with your friend...

No need of any amplifier..It is an active speaker

Thanks a lot. My friend will be considering this. :)

If its only for music, I would suggest two good bookshelf speaker with an amp. I am using Norge 2060 amp with Polk audio speakers. This combination is really good for music.

If its music/movies (on TV), I would suggest Onkyo LS-3100. See my review here. http://www.hifivision.com/home-theater/38348-simple-ht-setup-2-1-system-soundbar-4.html#post479128

Thanks a lot. LS-3100 looks promising. My friend will be taking a demo soon.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
