Hii friends,

I am new here.
I have some technical difficulties in my AVR/HT system.

1. Audio output from my Airtel HD Set top box (through HDMI) is coming only as stereo. Do I need to connect an extra optical cable for the 5.1 effect?

2. I have two Hard Disks (1 TB and 500 GB) with full of movies and songs, but could not play them through my AVR. I don't have a USB port in my AVR, but have USB ports in my PS3, satelite receiver set top box and DVD player, but none able to play the movies. I can connect it directly to the TV USB post and play the movies, but I need sound output on my 5.1 speaker system.

Please suggest me some options.

Thanks

HD set up box ,u should be able to get it tru hdmi,
for the collections u can go for x treamer or
use tv audio out (optical) to avr . make the speaker option in tv ot external..

Using tata sky HD a freind had issues getting digital audio. He added the optical cable and that did the trick. I have seen other folks in the forum reporting the same problem and getting it fixed using optical. My friend has a denon AVR , dont remember the model.

The second problem is difficult, unless you have an optical out from the TV (most newer models of LCDs have), which you could give to the reciever.

I have got a samsung UA32D5000 with dts 2.0 + Digital Out (optical Audio), can it be able to give 5.1 channel output? Also explain some more (settings/methods) for getting the audio out play in my AVR.

By the way how much is the cost for xtreamer?

Also is it possible to connect my laptop (Lenovo Y510 / Sony Vaio VPCX113) to denon 1312 AVR for playing the audio/video)

While I don't own Airtel HD STB, I have read in this forum that Aritel supports 5.1 over optical out only. Through HDMI you will get only stereo sound. You can buy an optical cable from ebay.in. Look for belkin brand.

For movie playback from your HDD, an HD media player is the best option. There are media players with built in HDD bay for installing HDDS. These are a little expensive. If your HDDs are external then you can look for models without internal HDD slots. Models to look for in HDD players are Himedia, Kaiboer, Measy etc.

You can try an optical cable from the TV to the AVR for getting 5.1

If your laptops have HDMI, then you can connect them to the AVR for video and audio. If it has no HDMI, then you can play audio using the headphone out. Use a 3.5 mm to RCA cable to connect the AVR and laptop.

Can anybody please suggest a voltage stabilizer for my setup.
[A V R (330W) + LED TV (80W) + Sony PS3 (200 to 380 W {not sure}) + Sat Set Top Box ((27W) + DVD Player (10 W) + Powered Sub Woofer(200W)]

Any particular Stabilizers are there for the HI Definition Systems?

(Since I live in the city not much power variations are there usually)

Whenever I am using optical output, the volume is too low compared to HDMI, why it is so? Any suggestions?
