Help with setting up an Optoma HD25e

Thanks a lot for the replies guys. Can't use a wall as I don't have the clear space anywhere in the room.

Was planning on putting a manual pulldown over one side where there are windows (they have very good blinds on them so once shut, very little light coming through).

I'll put up a sheet there to get an idea on image sizes etc and take a call based on that though.

Thanks for the tips on the UPS / Surge Protector, will definitely get one.

Poppy - which Liberty Grandview did you get? Am thinking of getting a manual pulldown from them as well, probably 106".

You can check on projectors - india. Com they have a Grandview and other brands online with prices it's I think hyderabad based and they deliver also.

awesome, thanks! how much did the screen cost you btw?

Hi Chief can u pl guide for power also .if u purchase from USA it comes with universal power or u have to purchase some converter pl help.
Sorry shiv.

I carried an Optoma HD25E myself from the US last month. Bought it on Amazon for US$ 750 and got a $50 gift card with it. Still to set it up though as have been busy. You don't need a power convertor as its 110-220 and will work here without any voltage converter.

Let me know what screen you decide on. I am considering Grandview 120" motorised or 133 manual with SRS.

Thanks chief for timely help on power I was totally confused even written a mail to optoma Asia (for India) ID but instead of helping he replied why u are buying from US u will not get warranty support in india etc.
I had ordered for Grandview 106" motorised.

Just as an update guys - got a Grandview Manual 100". Looks fantastic.

Anyone try to use Chromecast via the service port btw?

How much did it cost, if you don't mind and can you share the details of the dealer.

Just plug in the chromecast in the receiver, works great.

Will get some pictures up for you guys tomorrow!

Cost me only 10,500 btw. That was including 500 for installation and delivery. The dealer was: Abhi Projection

Yeah, plugging in works, what I'm confused about is how to power the Chromecast. Anyone got any ideas?

Also, anyone found a way to play movies off a USB somehow? And poppy/anyone else with this projector, you tried 3D?

Thanks for sharing the details.

Confused between Grandview 133" motorised or manual screen. I don't mind a manual screen but the problem is how to pull it down as it will be ceiling mounted. Can't have a string hanging in air.

My chromecast has a power adaptor and a USB cable. Can plug it in a wall socket or USB port if available to power it.

Have the same PJ but haven't set it up yet.

It's the same dealer whose details have been posted by the OP above in this thread. The owner is a gentleman called Sanjay Kapoor, comes across as a nice fellow. Have met /spoken with quiet a few others as well but Sanjay's prices were considerably lower than them.

Yup,

That's who I went with as well. Pretty satisfied tbh.

Did you guys get any 3D glasses/emitter? I didn't buy one with the projector - lost on what to do now!

I got 2 pairs of DLP link Active shutter 3D glasses from Amazon at $55 each. They are 8k here on Amazon India !! I think they will be cheaper if you order them on Amazon Global.

Try Sainsonic 3d DLP link glasses...no need to buy 3d emitter..you need to select DLP Link when watching 3d movies...sainsonic glasses are very good and will get $21-25 each.

Thanks!

Also, facing a bit of an issue guys... I got a Microtek 800 VA UPS thinking it would take the load of the projector as well as a PS4. Just needed it to take it for 2-3 min while I shut it down.

Tried it just with the projector, as soon as the power to the UPS was cut, the screen disappeared. Green light stayed on the projector for 10 seconds and then turned into 1 orange and 1 red light.

800 VA should have been able to handle this.. Any suggestions on what the issue is? Or what UPS I should be getting in place of this? Would appreciate if you could tell me soon, will be easier to replace the UPS sooner rather than later.

800VA rated UPS can provide power upto 800X0.6(pf)=480W..

Now Optoma HD25e is rated at 262W at bright mode and PS4 is rated at 250W max..so it's no wonder your projector is trying to restart again..you need to buy higher rated UPS to deal with it.

He tried it only with pj but still failed.

For my optoma HD20, I use APC BR1100 model and it works fine. It's not simply the matching the VA of device with VA of UPS. The cutoff time (in milliseconds) also matters I think. You can try with other microtek models also before exchanging this.

I use the projector in Eco mode - which is 190W. The PS4 doesn't usually go over 170-180W - even in hardcore games.

Interestingly, if I cut off power while the projector and PS are off and turn them on once the UPS is already on battery backup - it functions perfectly fine.

However, if the power gets cut off when the projector (even alone) is already running - it shuts down.
I don't mind upgrading, would a 1kva work? Shall I go with APC instead of Microtek?
