"Hollow" sound when playing music

That seems to solve it. But still i find it weird. I've never had this before with the exact same music, and the exact same player. Could it be something in the latest update for VLC?

Also, when i first played that "hollow" songs in foobar, it sounded hollow. But that is also gone now.

Something that came to mind: All the trouble started when i connected the subwoofer. I bought that thing and refoamed it. Could it be that it is just starting to settle in now? As far as i know all speakers need some time to start playing optimal, could that be what is happening now?

If it is really stupid that i only think of that now, 'm really sorry. I'm not that long into speakers yet, and i'm only sixteen. But, thanks for all your help anyway :)

Here you have one :

very difficult to see anything. i see a drop down saying 5.1 speakers, what are the other entires there. you also seem to be able to select speakers by ticking boxes. have you tried setting 2.1 here. are you on the latest version of the drivers.

The image is getting resized when i upload it, even if i upload one in full hd, you'll only see a blurry mess:\

Seems like the problem is solved. I think it is just VLC media player, because when i use foobar, it sounds just fine. Still weird though, i didn't have this problem before i connected the subwoofer. Maybe VLC can't handle a subwoofer very well? Or at least not this one.

Most likely a setting somewhere. Delete VLC preference and settings, if it still doesnt fix vlc then just stick to foobar.

I understand, there should be a toggle on-off/or push switch to make the subwoofer as reverse. You can try that. If it doesn't have that switch then just change the polarity for BOTH (yes both) speakers so that it can match with subwoofer jumping (+ -). I hope it will help.

I had a similar problem and after multiple attempts to fix it I finally found a solution. If you have Dell Audio or something similar open that program and reset everything to the default settings. It worked for me to get rid of the hollow and echo sound.

vlc audio playback quality is indeed not good, use another player like itunes and you will immediately notice the difference
