how important is manufacturing/import date of speakers & amps

How much does the manufacturing date on an amplifier or a speaker matter.

The reason I am asking is because I have seen the import or manufacturing dates on some of these products as old as 2008. Does this reduce their shelf life or affect the quality. They are brand new though and I am not getting any discount on them either.

What matters is whether the model is current. You can look this up in the company's website. If the model is current, the date of manufacture is not very critical as you will get full warranty. If the model is not listed anymore by the company, that is the time to see if you can push the dealer for discounts.
