How is Onida BDX 3330?

Maybe coz 7.3k is a bullshit price... I have heard of bdp in the less than 5k range from more reputed companies...

Check whether this model is region free before you buy. The other Onida model BDX1100 is region free and cost the same.

I have the region free model - it performs quite well. I am using HDMI output for audio and video. It does get hot if played for a long time.

i am looking for the bluray player with 5.1 analog output, bcos i dont have option of optical or hdmi output in my HT.

Onida BDX 3330 & 1110 player as 5.1 analog output.
can i go for this player ?

There doesn't seem to be any info on the BDX-3300. Can anyone throw some light please? My spider-sense for a good deal is tingling about this one and I'd love to try it out, but I can't seem to find any information at all about it.

this does have 5.1 analog output, but i will never dare to use it. I own the bdx 1110 (shortly to be put up for sale), and was using it with the CA 540r V3 amp (did not have native HD source decoding, not even sound through HDMI), so i was using the bdx 1110 analog out to send the audio to the amp... the analog out audio is absolutely crappy, i suspect it downmixes the HD soundtracks before sending through the analog outs...cause my CA540D dvd player used to sound better on DVDs than the bdx 1110 on blu rays...which was astounding. Recently I bought the Onkyo 609, now with HDMI out the sound is far far better as the decoding is happening at the amp...

In my view, the only reason to buy the bdx 1110 was the fact that it was region free...not sure if the 3330 is also region free or not, the bdx 1110 was a copy of the kogan blu ray player (forgot the model number) and is region changeable through a simple remote hack, I have forgotten the hack combination myself, if you search some of my older posts you will be able to find it...

as far as the picture quality goes i found no difference between the bdx 1110 from the sony base model (i think it was s370) when i checked out the same picture side by side in ezone before buying...

EDIT - found the hack again, open the tray and press 9,1,1,3 on the remote, a prompt would come up on the screen...if BDX 3330 is region free, u can try out the same code to check after going to ezone, if they are from the same family, the code may work

hope that helps..

Thanks a ton Koushik, so if the picture quality is decent and you can swap the regions, that sounds like a good deal, even if the analog stage is poor. What player are you upgrading to?

I upgraded to the big brotha to end the game only for now..the Oppo - 93..my uncle was returning from US..got it for 500 USD..I will now spend 150 usd to make it region free..bd performance was good as expected...but yesterday when I started playing full HD MKVs for the first time from the external HDD my jaws fell open..earlier I used to play them through the xtreamer..the picture quality was so much better and and so apparently it was crazy..mainly from edge definition, fluidity of movement and natural colour balance, I also felt the detailing was a lot better, but I will do a side by side comparo soon...oppo 93 vs. The xtreamer..watch this space...:-)
