HI Every one.
I love listening music and currently owns Sony HTib MHC RV8 which i am using for 4/5 years. Now i want a new audio setup in a range 40-50k. I prefer deep and powerful bass and crisp midrange. What should be the criteria, how much THD AND WATTAGE.

When you mean audio setup . do you mean 2 channel stereo or 5.1 channel . ?

Anyway jokes aside . you need to give the forum member more details as in room size , your budget is for speakers or Amp/receiver as well, are you looking for a stereo setup or a 5.1 chennel HT setup

Room size is 15 x 10 ft. i listen to pop/rock music mostly as i have a stereo system i don't how music sounds in 5.1 handles. My present system specifies 225X2 rms L/R +180 rms sub woofer.
my overall budget is 50k for AVR + speakers.

get the avr thought out of your mind and audition some integrated amps available, like the Marantz, NAD, Cambridge Audio, Denon etc..
And what do you plan to use as the source??

What advantage does integrated amps offer over AVR.

Nothing much, rather simplicity I would say, for music its always a Stereo amp and movies with kabooms, an av receiver. So if music be your primary purpose I would always recommend stereo amps.. BtW u didnt tell about the source

Can digital processing of an AVR make a difference. can you suggest 5.1 amplifier..as for now i am using simple philips dvd player as a source or analog out of my pc.

For your room size,get an amp which pumps at least 40w rms per channel. Anything higher than that will do but cost more.
Dont worry much about the THD as long as you are sticking to standard brands like NAD/MARANTZ/CA/Rotel & above or Norge /pulz among indian brands.
Some people are satisfied with AVR For stereo also. Added advantage with AVR (if you are not going to upgrade your source )Will be that the DAC In a good AVR Will be better than that in philips. However a stereo amp is likely to sound better for music especially if you upgrade your source.
I personally shifted from yamaha avr to marantz stereo amp. I am more into music and i am happy with watching movies in stereo mode.

Its simple, consider your priorities, if its music definitely a stereo amp or rather for a budget of 50k get everything.. A Norge amp you can get for around 12k or consider stereo packages available in the "FOR SALE" section and a pair of bookshelf speakers for something around 15k, the wharfedales can be considered or the avianos. Finish off your speakers and amp under 25, for your movie needs get a HTIB, i would recommend the HTS 3400, provides plenty of that bang for the buck.
And you can keep the dvd player as the source for now and later on upgrade, either a better CD player or if your DVDP has a digital out get a decent DAC.. Should keep you sonically satisfied for a while..
