How should you buy ?

Hello forum members,

Please do not judge equipment by the star ratings of some of the magazines in India. I have noticed that these reviews are unprofessional and like fast food item reviews. They never give enough time to burn-in the equipment and review mega buck items.

Please read magazines like stereophile Home Page | Stereophile.com, home theater Home Page | Home Theater, and the absolute sound the absolute sound | AVguide magazines before you make your decisions.

Please note these magazines also review inexpensive products.

I agree with you that star ratings do not tell the whole story. And yet they do give a comparative picture. Nor is it correct to conclude that only expensive equipment is highly rated. Many a times items that are medium or low priced in a particular price range get the best ratings.

'Stereophile' must be commended for devoting a lot of space to budget gear and often rating it highly. A case in point is the entry level Project Debut III turntable that was highly rated by the magazine.
