Hi

I know that's a huge room and the budget is a bit cramped for a person looking for a good powerful setup. Deep Bass and Clarity.

It's for a family friend who wants me to help him out with it. I was kind of clueless as what to suggest. So, am here asking for sugessions.

Person Listens to Ghazals mostly and needs it for a nice deep movie experience (shouldn't be turning it up the volume way too much).

I haven't heard the HTIB's being sold by Onkyo and Yamaha at croma and Reliance. How are they? Would they be a good fit?

Although I'm trying to convinve them for a good 2.1 setup with a good amp, FS and a powerful sub and use any speakers as surrounds.

Please, suggest.

Thanks
Samy

samy, there are lots of threads on the forum on HT at the 50-60 price point. Pl search and read up. The room is big alright, but for Rs.50-60k, cant do much about that.

If you have a Sonodyne dealer Or listening room, Audition Sonodyne 2605 FS (25K) + a good subwoofer (15K). This should satisfy your request. Go for an used receiver with not so fancy features...

HTIB dont have much clarity. I have one. After listenig to the induvidual components, i have realised that building seperates is the best way to go for good HT setup...

Samy, a room of that size requires some serious amplification and good speakers that can throw sound that far. Your friend will need to UP his budget. If not today, alteast on a later day. HTIBs are a big no no, even book shelf speakers will not do for a room of this size.

Good suggestion, ask him to start with a pair of good Floor Standers and a used AVR with decent power handling. He can add a subwoofer a little later and the surrounds and center a little later. This way, he can plan his upgrade progressively. Atleast, he will have something good to listen to all the while.
