iAUDIO IN BENGALURU-AUDIO YATRA CONTINUES

Venkat, though we carried Opeth CD, it was a burned copy, and we didnt use it for auditions. I think Rallynut played it at Suri's but I am not sure, the Cd is with him.

No, I have not posted any review of my TC-2s, been just listening to them. Also, there's always a chance that I will be biased. But FWIW, I feel they are very good speakers for an affordable price. You could also go for the Monitor series.
You listen to more of Rock/Death metal?

Hi Titus & Venkus

The company has stopped manufacture of Monitor series. I had picked up the last of the bookshelf speakers that they had.

Mr. Shiva mentioned that he is exiting the speaker business and entry level audio.

Hi Titus, thank you for the prompt reply. I listen to scandinavian and melodic death metal on the lines of opeth, inflames, arch enemy etc that too for a change and once in a while. I usually listen to carnatic and classical fusion with ambient tracks of moby et al.

I am assuming that TC-2s will do good job with fusion and ambient music...but was wondering if it could handle metal at medium volumes!

Capn Sir,

Thank you for the heads up. I am more interested in TC-2s than MS301. TC-2s along with a center channel is what I am looking forward for. I hope Siva doesn't discontinue that model. And Sir....please tell me how are you enjoying your bookshelves?

Venkat

Hi Venkat,

AFAIK, he doesn't have any other speaker in stock expect the big towers which Titus posted in this thread. When I asked him about Scanspeak based speakers he replied in negative. Anyway, wish you best of luck.

Hmm

Good question. Hope that sums up my answer. I'm tweaking it. Will post a thread shortly.

Oh yes, Venkat, Siva's pretty much done with his stock of speakers. But you could just check if there's any left.

@iaudio/suri/rallynut
What happened to all the promised reports about the goodies auditioned at Absolute Phase/ARN?Have they been posted and I have missed them?

No Ajay! Blame it on me. I have not posted it. I will do that soon. Sorry, the whole enthu kinda fizzled out and more so, because of fading memory of the specifics, though the impressions are intact.

Hi ajay,

Have you not seen his changed Signature. He must be having multiple aural org**ms daily since the yatra.:D

Why should he now bother about we blokes?;)

Any Audio Yatra to Mumbai / Thane? I have just last week made a TL speaker with Peerless M16KH (Kevelar cones) and T-25A aluminium dome tweeter. The cross-over is 1st order. Will be glad to have Suri give his critical feedback on the speaker system.

Cheers and Success on the Yatra, Hari.

Suri, seems to be still recuperating from the Bengaluru Yatra.Seldom sighted on the forum these days!:)

Hari, A lot of interesting stuff to be auditioned in Mumbai I guess, your TL speakers featuring prominently on the list.

Ajay, Yep, Suri is quite busy, barely get him on phone either.

Was just going through this thread again and just remembered what a wonderful time we had that weekend. Great people, great music, great places and finally great memories I will cherish for a lifetime!
It's been two years and I am richer by many valued friendships which started back then.

Edit:
All the folks who asked me about what happened to the rest of the write up, esp the auditions from ARN, I am so sorry. I misplaced the chits of paper on which I had scribbled down my impressions, also details of the exotic equipment that Sridhar kindly set up for us.

I would like to post a little about it from memory.
The main setup I heard at ARN comprise of Ayon CD-1 Cd player fed to Prism Sound Orpheus DAC/Pre with an Odyssey Khartago(?) power amp powering the lovely Usher MD-1 speakers.
The Md-1 speakers look gorgeous, and sound just as good. I remember them being able to do the string notes from my favourite Mandolin track just as well as the Scanspeak based speakers I had heard, be it speed or timbre.
When we played the Marantz test disc(11th edition), the bass on most songs was very accurate and tight. The HF was slightly sweetened, so that it would be less fatiguing. I wouldnt exactly call it rolled off though.
The vocals were very good, but did not have as much presence as Suri's TL's or the AP reference system.
Tried a poorly recorded old Yesudas songs CD and it wasnt very forgiving.

After this, we came out of the dedicated, sound proofed listening room, into the main display hall. Here we auditioned the Emerald Physics loudspeakers. These speakers had a very attacking, raw sound. But the way these speakers reproduced string instruments timbre was not to my taste.

Hiten, will do! Though getting in touch with him is not as easy feat :)
Talked to him last month and he was doing well, listening to music on his Witches of Sound.
He had also upgraded to a higher range of Marantz offerings, the SA-11( iirc) Cd player and matching integrated amplifier.

Bro, pls convey the regards of all of his(Suri's) well wishers of the forum. We really miss him :(
Hope he comes back from his long hibernation ASAP.

Thanks

:)

Thanks Titus for bumping this thread mate. Brings back memories from the audio yatra. Good ole Suri and Kannan (rallynut) are being missed on HFV. I am in touch with Suri, but he has gotten very busy with ENT practice. He tried, but couldn't make it to the mini meet we had a Cochin on short notice when Titus, Hydra, Gijo George and I met recently.

Ciao, ole chaps :ohyeah:...

Indeed very nice to see some fond memories rehashed. How in the world does Iaudio remember something, that too from so long ago :ohyeah:?!!

And yes, I concur..a bunch of great people we got to interact with!!

True, have been offline for longer than I ought to have, regrettable. My move to Bangalore (been 2 years now), hasn't really left me time to indulge enough in this compulsion of ours :o. Haven't therefore been in touch with many good folk (Santhosh, Steve, and many others) on this account, Suri included. Regrettable again. I have on occasion spoken with esanthosh and Iaudio though, the topics' inevitably being...audio.

That said, I have managed to get my humble rig here and not a day goes by where I am not able to enjoy my music!! With the addition of a media player and a 40" LED,..my 2-channel HT setup is sure engrossing. Helps when you have only HD files to use ;).

Good to be back online, I will make a conscious effort to henceforth be more accessible ;).

Cheers!
