I think only links can be posted. Maybe there is a way I guess which I am not aware off.

You need to upload the image to a file hosting service like Google photos/Imgur/Dropbox, copy the file sharing URL and paste it in the attachment link for image in PM, the image will appear inline with the rest of the message (as in below screenshot). Direct copy/paste of images won't work AFAIK.
