Importing subwoofer to india

I called one agent first time he said i need BIS certificate lol it will cost me 3lakhs and i cut the phone
Some of the electronic goods require BIS certification for ensuring quality standards if imported to India. The thing, the BIS certificate will be issued by the Authorities to Foreign Manufacturer or their representatives/indian subsidairies. It will be issued for a product range and not for individual piece or transaction and might have validity period, after which that can be renewed further Once the BIS is issued to a particular make and model, that product can imported to India by anybody untill its validity allows. The Manufacturer or thier Indian Agents have to apply and acquire the BIS and not by the End user like you.

First thing, please check the make and model you are proposed to import is already having valid BIS, if it is having, you need not to worry about obtaining the same.. You can check with the Indian Dealers of that product about the same. They may not reveal the truth since it affects their business interests.

However, the BIS is certificate is not required for the products brought from abroad for personal use, especially if they are for individual, non-commercial purposes. However, if the product falls under the mandatory BIS certification list and is intended for sale or commercial use in India, then a BIS certificate is required, whether it is imported or hand carried. Some agents are clever and may bring such product without BIS, like misbranding or with varied nomenclature, having their own paid regular travellers, and many other illegal modes.

So, if the intended product does not have BIS and falls under mandatory BIS requirement, then the better option is to get the product into India through some one who is travelling citing as for personal use. This is the usual practice all of we do.

Some of our fellow FMs who have better expereience and Idea on this, may correct me if it is something else or other way out.
@hardcore_gamer99 -the reply by @mahaaprasaad perfectly encapsulates the operating framework and workarounds w.r.t. BIS.

As @mahaaprasaad said, if a product type is not covered under what is know as a "Mandatory Quality Control Order", there is no prohibition on import, subject only to taxes and duties.

All mandatory quality control orders are available on the BIS website.

I imported a lepy amp and a tactilr transducer once from china. It was alibaba or aliexpress.
Both delivered to my doorstep
As far as I remember I did not even paid anything for custom clearance. No certification was required at all.
So I think it is better to import from China than from US. Chinese people send stuff here directly also if there is delay or any problem you can claim your money back.

Planning to get a Rythmik L12. In-warranty servicing requires shipping to whom? Any service centre for Rythmik? or the distributor handles the warranty?

oh, but u must. Recently, the plate amp on my Rythmik E15-HP2 gave up the ghost. From discussions online, it seems there was a problem with the capacitors of the batch made in and around 2022. Rythmik comes with a 3 year warranty and the sub gave up around 30 months into its lifecycle. I shudder to think if there was no warranty!

answers to questions I'm waiting to find out myself. I put in my claim for warranty last Friday, the 11th of July to Avenue Sound, who are the distributors as well as sellers and are responsible for the warranty. They have responded saying they are working with Rythmik to resolve the issue (I had first emailed Rythmik directly and they said they'll ship the parts to the distributor for repairs) and I've asked them whether i need to send in the Sub or they'll ship the parts so that i can get it changed out here locally but they haven't confirmed yet.

Thanks for clarifying. Kindly post your experience once things are sorted out. Should throw some light on the warranty aspect, how it is being handled.
