Hello guys.. I am constructing a dedicated home theatre room from scratch and now, I need to buy the HT speaker cables. I've read several posts in the forum suggesting DAC, MX or Monster.. My doubt here is whether these regular cables can be used for In-wall speaker wiring or should I only go for CL2 rating speaker wires ONLY ??

CL2 is the rated standard for in wall wiring however while you will are in way of making the room here are few options.

you will need wiring only for surrounds besides power lines which anyways will be inwall.

if you plan to make just the brick cement wall and then cover with acoustic panels ( anutone etc ) then i would suggest go for wiring between the wall and the panels which can always be repaired/removed and upgraded.

what kind of flooring you plan ? if carpeting then you can run flat MX cables below it. these are not permanent solutions but wiring can be neatly tucked below and easily accesible.

on the other note you can run thick pvc pipes and let the mx/dac cable run inside of them and it wont be an issue.

Sommer cables make speaker cables to be used inwall
I guess FM Frank mehta had used same for hus HT built
I think he is not too active here

if you can run the cables in a flat pipe
use any cables

irrespective of the rating

Hi Guys,

I am also in same line as Vipersting. I am getting a dedicated HT Room. I have a couple of queries .

1. I need to run the speaker cable for surround speakers through wall i.e for LS,RS,LR and RR speakers . can i know which is the best speaker cable to go for CL2/CL3 or 14 gauge?

2. I have got wharfedale vardus tower speakers as front speakers. wht is the guage of wire i should be using?

2. I need to know the height at which surround speakers to be placed?
