India getting Android based Head Unit from Clarion

Its so funny its mentioned as world's first android ICE unit. :p

There so many Chinese suppliers doing this for years now. With better configuration and probably cheaper too.

There are lot of DACs compatible with Android tabs. Tab + DAC + preamp would be much versatile than this HU.

That'll kill a few people.

Even the most basic head units cause accidents; something with a touch based interface is going to be absolutely lethal. Taking up fingers, eyes and attention, for valuable seconds, when eyes and attention should be on the road. Really, this is dangerous and should be illegal.

Steering based remote + ready playlist + concentration on road >>>>> android HU

Point taken. Perhaps it can be used wisely, but I fear many would not.

I fear I would not! I do not like HUs that I can't use with one hand and my eyes shut.

Oh wait... perhaps that "eyes shut" thing is what's wrong with my driving!

I would like to learn more about this, can you or anyone throw some more light on this. I have a spare Tab2 3100. How can I replace my existing HU with that.

I have a 4 channel JVC amp 80 w @ 4 ohm * 4:licklips:

I don't have touch screen, but i am even worse. I use my DAP and its tiny little screen and switches :o.

Few things i make sure ..

1. Use playlist whenever possible
2. Always set to 'Repeat album' so that music doesn't stop after end of an album.
3. Choose the album that you want to hear before taking the car out of the parking lot. Never change it before your reach your destination while driving in city. You can change during long traffic signals.
4. While driving in highways, always ask you co-passenger to change the album. Never take your eyes off the road while doing high speed.
5. Especially for long drives, ensure that your volume level is less than 85db. Spl meter apps are easily available for every android and ios phones. Never try to overpower the high speed road noise with loud music. The hearing loss damage is irreversible.

+1 to the above as I have a touch screen based HU I make sure that I switch off the display after I start playing the song on the playlist. It gets switched on only if somebody changes/shuffles the songs or I get a call on my mobile if it is paired on bluetooth. Even for bluetooth calls I made the setting in the HU to pick the calls automatically without me manually picking the call.

Not just 4 channel Amp,you should have a Bluetooth enabled or Aux input single Din system, u can buy a quality one like Pioneer for approximate 6k, Bluetooth is preferable, ease of use.
