Sumit,

My 2 cents. Except for #1 and #2, I do not believe you would be getting statistical data for the remaining from this forum. What you may get is a series of personal opinions and I am sure that would NOT be admissible evidence for your purpose.

A better bet would be to dig up news/surveys by googling and worst case basis, buying a report from reputable survey houses. The latter is an option seldom feasible for a cash strapped MBA student :)

The best bet would be speaking with the list of manufacturer's that you would get from this forum, understand the segments they cater to and their view of the preferences that customers look for. Do note that what you will hear will be through a coloured lens from manufacturer so a degree of judgement/filter will need to applied from your end.

At least, I did so during my summers in my MBA days.

Cheers

Why everybody thinks that the OP Is cash strapped MBA Student? He may be a businessman planning to venture into audio industry.

OP,Will you please clarify why do you need all this information. I wanted to know it just out of curiosity and nothing else. I wont be of much help except quoting some indian brands.

For the first time i am seeing someone asking about audio industry stats and future scope rather than asking opinions about products for personal/commercial use.

Dear All,

I am not an business men who is trying to use information from you rather this is an assignment for which I need your guidance. Further I feel that there is complete lack of transparency and availability of data for this sector. If through this thread we can see where we stand in India and where are we moving this will help everyone who want positive developments to happen in this space in India.

I look forward to your opinions and guidance.

Sincere Regards,

Buts thats the reality I will not be making business now

Thanks Sumit for clarifying it.

Some Indian brands i know of are Sonodyne,Norge,DNM,Pulz,Cadence,Lithos,Craftel. Not sure but may be Audire is another indian company.

Indian brands are less popular than imported ones on forums because of Aesthetics, availability of remote controller, Brand value and resale value.

Those who are not on similar forums hardly know these brands because they are either exposed to philips/sony/samsung etc or ultra cheap chinese stuff or computer sound(logitech/altec Etc).
Ahuja is well known indian brand in public address systems.

Mr Viren Bakshi , a member on forum is into manufacturing tube amplifiers and speakers.

This is about amp and speakers. I dont know of any indian brand which manufactures source (cd or dvp player) except DNM which has 1 cd player model.

Cadence,Lithos is high end stuff. Norge,DNM Is within reach of many. Pulz is mainly into theatre sound. Sonodyne caters more to public places like coffee shops/malls etc but to home audio also.

I personally own indian speaker called ventronic. However I bumped into these speakers in a local shop accidentally. I liked the sound and workmanship was ok. So I bought them. I have never seen those any other shop.

Hope this helps at least to start your quest. I dont have any statistics.

Lyrita is owned by mr viren bakshi.

Pandam: i have heard it only once and i was amazed. Too good. I think mr damle is into installation audio. Made to order only. I heard it at planet m in times of india building at CST Mumbai many years back. Only speakers. Mid to High end.

Peerless and bolton mainly make speaker drivers. Bolton is entry level while peerless is mid to high level.

TELOME: completed speakers. I would consider them entry level.

Corson: are you sure it is not Corrosion audio? corrosion audio provides various drivers and DIY Kits.

I have not other brands. They will be either dirt cheap or very high end. I remember Salora though. That was the first tv set bought in our family way back in 1982-83. Worked well for many years. Have not heard about the company after that.
