Hi All!

Currently, in a dilemma to continue with the speakers or let it go!

I bought the IndiqAudio Diamond Achals in the first batch, and since then,
> I have used various good amps: Marantz NR1200, Lyrita, DD, and Anode
> I have also changed the room (just to negate any Vastu dosh if any)
> I used a rug (thought it would fly)

But the speakers never lived up to their hype or size. I'm not sure where I went wrong.

This was even more evident when I went to TopGizmo in Noida for a demo (They have a great team) and I found that small bookshelf speakers performed better and sounded bigger than my speakers.

Please share - what are you powering your speakers with, and how has your experience been with Achal's till now.

My current setup - Diamond Achal >> Lyrita tube amp >> WIIM Pro

Comparisons are the bane of audio equipment manufacturers 😊
Sounds like you are ready to explore something that sounds different.
If you hadn’t gone for the demo…now your dil maange more? Congratulations! You have the audiophiled’ disease.

A good place to start might be to identify what exactly you are missing (in audio terms) with your current set up. Then start exploring what to do

Then time to change, unless you can get someone experienced in your city to listen to your setup and see if they find the problem is elsewhere. MY personal experience with this brand for speakers (have heard a bookshelf anf tower) has not been favourable. Both speakers lacked in phase accuracy which signified, probably some issue witht the crossover design.

My apologies, I'm not familiar with audio lingo - and I've passed the phase where I want to be called an "Audiophile" or be in pursuit of that.

If you read my post again you will find - what I am using, what my issue are and what information I have requested from the owners of the speakers (coz the owners I know are either not using it or have sold it long back)

For me, my audio system should sound good for the type of music I like and shouldn't make me listen to any specific kind of music that a setup may be good at.

The idea is to get a sense of what other owners are using and may find a vendor in the city and go for an audition.

Being not a technical guy I would say - that's why a lot of people I have been in touch with have sold their speakers.

I have got some very good, powerful amps for demo at home, but these speakers never gave me the confidence to invest more in them.

My apologies. It was not my intention to call you an audiophile. Buy you are right - audiosystems should not dictate what sounds good and therefore limit our listening choices to this.

I was a legit owner of a pair of these speakers. (I think I was the first person to buy the Indiq Audio Diamond Achals). I incidentally had the Lyrita DHT paired with them for a while too. So I went though what you might be experiencing to an extent.

I liked them for a year and half but went on to explore and discover other speakers of different designs and engineering. I also know there are people who bought these and are content with them.

Try demoing international branded speakers.
I went to Top gizmos in Noida to audition, specially bookshelf ( I need to check on their amplification) - speakers which were in the range of 30-50K (Elac, Polk, missio) were easily sounding far better than my Tower speakers.

Idea is to get a better power Amplifier. Then if the speakers start sounding better, I’ll continue else. I will change the speakers in the second stage.

Don't be - bas dil kaa dard tha :)

I would like to connect with people who are satisfied with them to learn how they are using them and ensure that my units are working properly.

I bought these speakers thinking that at least the speakers would be sorted for the long run, and the rest of the chain could be upgraded. Now, however, I have to reinvent the wheel.

True - my speakers are rated at 95db sensitive - but it needs far more power
If I recall right they were rated at 4 ohms. They were also described as 2.5 way design with a 10” passive side mounted subwoofer along with a tweeter and a mid range woofer.
Amit would be able to provide the correct specs

As per the spec on website it is 8 ohms 3 way speakers with a side firing woofers.

I have bought Diamond Mishras at first group buy in this fourm and very happy with my setup since then. It is paired with very old and basic Yamaha Stereo integrated Amp AX 396 (https://hifi-wiki.com/index.php/Yamaha_AX-396). In my experience, these speakers pair well with natural sounding very simple and musical vintage like SS amps. Though not power hungry, it opens up with amps with 45W+ power per channel and keeping the volume knob pointing at 10.00 - 11.00 clock position.

My set up is in small 15 x 12 living room and this speakers gives me fullest music satisfaction, which I was looking for since my childhood.

In my conclusion, these speakers are very similar to Yamaha and JBL home entertinement system speakers at the high end, and does not require much room corrections and does not have specific sweet spot.

Thanks @mahaaprasaad for sharing your feedback - you have shared what exactly a lot of other Mishra owners have shared on the forum itself -
However, in this thread, I am trying to identify issues or gaps with Diamond Achal, which involve different speakers.

I have used the speaker with nothing less than 4 amps, different makes - Tube to SS / Integrated to power amplifiers (up to 100W per channel)
Shifted house, leave aside changing rooms - kept it in the hall as well as in the room to check the output, but no major difference.

In my conclusion and firsthand experience after auditioning bookshelf speakers at 1/3 the price, they are not cutting the mark.

What exactly are you missing in your setup?

This is a Brave Statement. Almost all reviewers reviewing those speakers here on hfv seems to be paid reviewers in my view, based on the one sided praises only and not focussing over their drawbacks if any.

Wow! That’s a harsh statement.
And… It’s impossible to prove or disprove (that all reviewers on HFV have been paid).
You are partly right in that a lot of reviews on the internet for audio gear tend to be positive. After all who wants to spend time and effort reviewing audio equipment that they dislike?
Well known professionals reviewers do tend to mention the short comings of products they are reviewing.
But to my knowledge no HFV members are professional reviewers. FM share their impressions after buying and highlight what they like. Not all owners are skilled in assessing the performance of a pair of speakers. But you will find members of all audio fora everywhere sharing their impressions of audio gear they have bought or heard at a show or showroom. This is why fora exist.
Not many have the means or the motivation to buy a cost comparable pair of speakers of similar topology of another brand to do AB testing and write about the differences as professional reviewers can (paid or not)
