Is there surround sound support for youtube ?

I have a Shield. I used to get 5.1 sound , but it stopped around a year ago. Since then, have been unable to coax 5.1 out of YouTube

For example - this video used to play with 5.1 PCM, but not any more :

YouTube keeps experimenting with 5.1
A year back they uploaded telugu movie Majili songs in 5.1 and then removed after few days.
But it sounded way more compressed than the 2.0 feed.

I have been looking for multichannel feature since long. Also I see tons of multichannel speaker testings including atoms and other demo videos, so we may be missing something. Otherwise all these videos make no sense. I’m guessing premium content of YouTube may have this option, i didn’t try, so cannot confirm. But what ever I did, couldn’t make multichannel work for YouTube.

Help me in deciding to get YouTube Premium, is it worth it. How does it differ from regular YouTube. Will there be any improvement in sound quality (I mean the bitrate). I watch a lot of music videos on YouTube on my Shield. Thanks in advance.
