I have 2 questions in fact but dont want to open separate threads for them.

1. Let's say I want to compare 10.1 with JBL control 1. (They both are to be used with TP20.) How do they compare in musicality, bass, details, soundstage, mids?

2. Does it make sense to go for TP30 over TP20? Has anyone auditioned TP30 with these speakers? One shouldnt just go for tp30 simply because it has additional DAC. Thats why i am asking.

U cannot compare 10.1 to the control 1. For a fact, both r in a different league from each other, the wharfs being better.
Never heard the tp20 or 30, hence i honestly cannot comment on how will they sound with either speaker. Maybe with a tp20 the jbl might sound better, but with a normal amp, no ways bro...

Try out Wharfdale 121 too if you are interested in wharfe 10.1.
121 belongs to the new diamond 100 series. Price difference isn't too much between the two either. Reviews seem to indicate quite a bit of improvement between the two.

Denny at bass n treble had those in stock last time I was there. Make sure to carry your topping amp with you though. No point in demoing them with some other amp only to realise it doesn't sound as good with the topping.

very recently I created my setup based on TP20 + JBL control1. as of now this looks be me divine combination. I believe speakers will get even better as time progress (100hrs time).

whenever creating new music setup, one should remerber following things.
* you need to be very clear about your listening habits.
* music is more important than music technical setup, so you need to identify kind of music which you like the most. you need to create your setup as per your likings and listening habits.
* music is highly subjective, there is no perfect system in the world. any comparison of two musical setup is meaningless. comparison is endless, preference and liking is highly subjective.
* finally, when you spend so much money and create gr8 system as per your linking. Thoughts of all music setup technical jargon (amplifier, speaker, wire, cable, low bass, high bass, mids, highs etc.....) must disappear while playing your fvrt music and one must feel lost in the music.
in my experience, I found this journey to hifi music very difficult. its very easy to get lost in technical jargons and forget your music.
so be very careful before entering into hifi world..

Nice thoughts indeed, but very difficult to follow. Presenty I am exactly in the same state of upgrading, tweaking, changing things and a constant worry that things can be better :-( But the trouble is worthwhile, but hope I will settle down to enjoy music early before spending too much money. Gautam

Let me tell you my hifi music journey, Hope this help you little bit...

There was a time when I was deeply connected with my music. I could listen same track or same album for hours. i used to listen mostly Pandit Jasraj ji & Bhimsen joshi kind of music. I could forget the world around me and even forget flow of time. I didnt know anything beyond mp3 music and a very simple music system without any technical jargons. music was my lifeline.. you can say so...
one fine day I accidently came across hifi music world and things started changing. I thought that I can enhance my experience and take it to next level. I didnt know that this is beginning of reverse gear. I happily enrolled myself into hifi world and learned lot of lessons on great music technical jargons. I spend lot of money and time in creating a very high-end system. I have no doubt that I created really a very good high-end system (this is not about TP20+ JBL 1contrl based system. this is another new system as I moved out of india recently, I could not bring my old system here). But, it took me some time to realize that I have lost my music in all this process. Whenever I used to listen music, I used to think more about system and technical stuff.. this thing is good.. or something is missing... if I change this.. how this will sound.. etc.. music listening became fatigue and I lost all my music. I lost all interest in music. lot of time went without any music..

one need to remember that when you enroll yourself in hifi world. infact, you want to create or listen orginal pristine sound knowingly or unknowingly, which is entirely not possible. This is never ending journey. you will always feel something or other is missing. The quest of original pristine sound is infact very difficult journey if you keep putting effort. it might become easy when you become or feel effortless. I can only hope that I become effortless despite putting all effort and able to listen pristine sound again...

I have odac + tp20 + speakers mark audio 10.2 in pencil cabinet . I am very happy with the kind of music I am playing on it.

research through the forums which suit the type of music you wish to hear , and you would get closer to your setup .

I did not audition jbl control1 , so do not know as compared to wharfdale 10.1 .
But at one time I was close to buying wharf 10.1 for tp20 and I am very glad I did not .:)
