Jensen audio JTA-450 Turntable not rotating

I have a new Jensen JTA-450 3-Speed Turntable with MP3 encoding set.

It has not been used since it was bought. It was bought seven years ago.

The turntable does not rotate when set to 'Phono' mode.

What could be the problem?

Is there any service centre in Chennai which can rectify this?

First thing.

It's a cheap TT with cheapest possible components so please don't have high hopes. Everything from tonearm to cart is made to a price.

Well to the problem now.

Does it power on ?

Does it have some kind of platter lock ? Read the manual please.

May be the belts have gotten off or are simply rotten as it's 7 years old.

Many things to see. Please make a point to point check.

May I suggest if you plan to do some serious vinyl listening it's wiser to get a vintage Japanese TT in good condition.

You kind find them to be around 6k~ and they are usually very well made.

The LOTL of a 80s TT will give Jensen a run for the money.

Thanks a lot for giving my query careful consideration and your kind reply.

The system powers on. With regard to platter lock, I am no expert, but from what I see in the manual and on the system, there is not any.

Let me see if I can get it rectified. Its very hard to find a service centre in Chennai which attends to this brand.

Or I have to find an alternative. Thank you for your suggestions. Very kind of you.
