I just talked to Mr Rajendra.. He quoted 54K for KEF Q500.. discount 5%.. so final price comes to 51,300Rs..

Is there any deal better than this for these speakers ..??

Yeah.. was thinkin but right now they are not available for demo..

If anybody is interested, they can be demoed now at soundscape.
I was bit disappointed (hoping to get better response than Q300 for my classical vocal interests). Could be because they were not burned in.

Hi, Looking for the KEF to replace your Paradigm 9? what AVR have you decided to drive the speakers? I understand you are now looking at 5.1 not stereo.

@sagarvikram and @vikoma: If you guys are going for auditions make sure you carry your own amplification as well as source. The SoundScape folks have a pedestrian DVDP and a Marantz PM5004 driving the KEFs and Focals and everything else. The experience could be a lot better with your own source and amplifier (and content too).

And let me know when you are going. I work pretty close to that place and can drop in to provide a helping hand (ear? ;) )

There is a Soundscape in Aundh too. Is the Aundh soundscape part of the same chain?

I am thinking of going today evening to this dealer at Aundh as it is close to where I stay.

That's the only soundscape I know. And I guess vikram is talking of the same. :)

When I visited them they had a Magnat CDP and tube amp, and it sounds wonderful. Do check if it is available.

Sann

For the same denon set-up, I found Q500s to be lacking the detail that the Monitor 9s presented. Some may construe that as brightness based on one's tastes :) I have a feeling Q300s are better than Q500s. As it is, Q500s are supposed to be bigger Q100s (and not bigger Q300s).

@ruenigma, i am not going to audition KEF.. I started this thread when i did not have Paradigm.. I went to this store last week but did not hear KEF.. was there for AVRs.. listened to SR5005 and Denon 1912.. have posted my impression in a separate thread.. :)

Aakash, yes i am now focusing on 5.1 setup.. Will listen to Vikoma's SR5006 today with my speakers.. let see how it goes.. :)

It was good.. I have decided to get this AVR.. later if i feel, i can get power amp for fronts.. but i dont think i'll need that.. :)

Congrats for your purchase.. :)

Thanks to you, I went to soundscape. Now I have one more question. Do you know where in Pune can I hunt for items like spade, banana plugs. I plan to make my own speaker wire and solder the spades myself.

The so called 'Nakamichi' plugs are not too high on quality, experienced this when friend of mine got them & he connected them to a set of speaker cables he most often uses for doing various speaker demo's. They invariably used to come off the connected wire when they were pulled out of the speaker posts.
Yes, you may not be doing such an exercise with your set but just giving a 'Heads up'

Have used these & have tried the same experiment as my friend & can happily say that I did not face any probs

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
