Quite a few of us have a whole bunch of designs from 10 - 15 inch drivers in different cabinet types. Some of the cabinets get too big for our modern day residences. @srinisundar's Western Electric 753c cabinets with the Altec drivers are one of the best I have heard, especially considering its size and practicality. Can the DIY community offer such speakerswould be lovely to have a 12-15 incher set-up
Drivers are available in India, it will be cheaper than importingYou can go on jelabs blog. There is a 2 way design. It uses a Altec 414 as a full range with a WE/Altec 32 horn on top. You can also check out Joe Roberts design of the same. I prefer Joe Roberts design. The crossover is just one cap
You can get the drivers, the horn on eBay and get Sadik to make the cab for you.
It’s something I was considering a few years back.
Drivers without cone paper will be available in India and you have to import same, which will become expensive. So it is better to get original condition drivers from USA.Drivers are available in India, it will be cheaper than importing![]()
Not really at a conservative price of $1000 a pair thats 85k. Getting local drivers and re-coning with @SIDEWINDER18X will always work out cheaper. Its tough to hand carry these super heavy drivers, if you ship them then there are taxes to deal with as well.Drivers without cone paper will be available in India and you have to import same, which will become expensive. Lovely setup!!I have done the Jelabs with Joe roberts design with the same Altec 414 and Altec 32B horn and tried with Altec 802/806/808 tweeter.
Sounding excellent for a mid sized room and perfect for home design.
