Lets talk 2 channel for movies...No to 5.1

My opinion on BR6:

They are really good speakers but I am apprehensive of how they would do in a small room. I listened to them extensively on CA as well as on my Denon 1911 AVR. I found them to be "loud". That does not take away their quality of sound but I would find them over powering in a smallish room (for reference, my room is 11x15).

I found Monitor 9s to be more suitable for my requirements.

For your movie experience, unless you are constrained by the budget, I would recommend Monitor 9.

Else, Monitor 7 is great, just pair it with C1 center to initiate the TV set-up. SW can be looked at in near-future.

@ ShaQblogs

I have tried the 5.1 as well, but am much more comfortable with 2 channel. Also my room is not very big
I have a small room!! It sounds really good in it. Its just that bigger the room, better the effects turn out.
For movies, stereo sound like crap. Once you listen to 5 channel you dont want to go anywhere near 2 channel for movies. I dont even have a sub yet. It will work out only better with a sub added to 5 channel. I fail to see what is the point of going 2 channel for movies when you get a far better experience with 5 channel.
To me this sounds like someone who has not really xperienced a good 5 channel demo.

@shaq, whether a 2 channel setup is inadequate or not would depend on the kind of movies one watches too.

I'm quite happy with my 2 channel setup for movies. I don't watch that many "current" movies at home and the majority of movies I watch are as old as I am, or older. Even the movies that I watch at home, which have come out within the last 3 decades, they don't need 5 channel surround sound to be enjoyed. I prefer to watch the newer ones with all the shock and awe effects in a theater.

I prefer to put all my eggs in the 2 channel basket, as that's where I would be able make out (= enjoy) the difference. Had I built a 5.1 setup, I wouldn't enjoy my music to the fullest extent, and the movies I watch wouldn't need the extra channels to get enjoyed.

But then if I had unlimited funds to drop in, I'd have a 5.1 channel setup AND a separate 2 channel setup. In two different rooms, though, heh heh.

I hope you are not talking about 60s :p Just Kidding

I had some moolah but still I went for 2, 2 channel setups, I find them better.

Hahaha, in a way, yes. I'm in my mid thirties. But I do watch a lot of movies from the 40s onward. I've not yet started going further backward yet. That's for after I exhaust the movies from the forties till now. :)
