Another delta-sigma in the chain during playback will definitely mess up / color the sound.
I had read that its basically the filters employed which mess up the original sound. Based on the computations, for each original sample, more are generated and injected in the flow. There will be coloration (minor or major) following each original sample. In a nos , there might be coloring bcos of stair step , but its just single type of colouring throughout the music vs the filters which give various flavours of colouring.
