Looking for good Audio system for my car.

i am looking for a decent audio system for my new car GETZ,

..a decent head unit, with USB

..4 door speakers that would produce clear mids and crispy highs, should not rattle when put on high volumes,

..a sub-woofer unit with 1 or 2, 8 inches sub-woofer, not with boom boom bass but with deep, tight, punchy and smooth bass...

..an amp to drive these components

Can any one suggest on these.... ?

Having initially pursued high end audio in a car, I have to say that it is an inherently flawed environment to listen to true high quality stereo. First of you, you are sitting off axis. Secondly, it is an extremely noisy environment.

This is coming from a guy with 2 10" Image Dynamics subwoofers, JL Audio 300/4, 500/1 amplifiers and the MB Quartz QSD 216 hand built components for the front. You can bump the music loud, but high quality listening in the true sense.....forget about it

satya mostly takes very high end installs however ive putin a word
he is not cheap but ive always had a very basic rule
"DONT try and save on installation costs"
they make or break your entire system!

@ rudraonnet - (O.T. Which Getz is it?) Damp the front doors and the rear hatch. NoiseKill is a good option.

To Magma's list I would like to add a decent 2 channel amplifier (5-6k). That way, you could use it (bridged) to run the sub. Or, use 2 channels of the 4 channel amp to run the sub as suggested by Magma and power the rears via the 2 channel. Try to stick to the same brand of speakers (F&R). For HU, go with Alpine. They sound delicious. Oh, please get good wires.

I agree fully. Now living outside India, I recently bought a BMW which has a Lexicon Logic 7 system including 13 speakers with awesome surround capabilities! Perhaps the finest car audio I have ever listened to. But is it worth buying externally and fixing in your car? No way. A decent in-dash receiver with a pair or two of good speakers will be more than enough. Spend money on high-end system at home.

Perhaps the finest car audio I have ever listened to. But is it worth buying externally and fixing in your car? No way. A decent in-dash receiver with a pair or two of good speakers will be more than enough. Spend money on high-end system at home.

This system still exists and is in my 2003 MR2 Spyder (paradise Blue Color).
I also own a BMW 3.35i Coupe and the system is quite nice. In fact, I prefer it to the custom system in my Spyder. Just easier to listen to.

Murali and Shaizada, I have read about the car being a bad environment for listening to music in many threads here at HFV. Well, a car is made for transportation as it's primary objective.

I have a Maruti Swift in which I have a simple JVC unit connected to four 2-way speakers fitted to the doors. I have enjoyed my music immensely without having to raise the volume too much. Actually whenever I buy a new CD, I rush to my car and hear it there before playing it elsewhere.

A little bit of soundproofing and a decent system can enhance your listening pleasures even in a car.

Is this Satya a SQ or SPL installer ? Most so called SQ installers I have met here are actually SPL guys who knows about all the latest models and such. They would have done some car audio install course somewhere. Most have no clue about realistic reproduction of music in a car.
I once had this very popular installer put me into one of his premium installs ( a Mitsubishi lancer) and do a demo. Within 30 seconds I had a headache.
If this guy is an SQ installer, please PM me his number.

I always had this doubt. In a room which is 16 x 14ft size, for all practical purposes you just need one 10 or 12 inch subwoofer. People sometimes use two but remember this not for SPL but is more of a purist implementation. And such a subwoofer is used very sensibly and dialed in with care to give you bass extension. Then why do premium installs in a car which is roughly 1/3 rd the size of this room require two or more subs ?

In ICE there is no installer who can be labelled as SQ or SPL
each installer has both clientelle (now im talking of ood installers not the run of the mill nukkad wallas)

obviously satya will have both kinds of clients too

that said, satya is one of the known installers not only in banglore but around INDIA.i have my refernces going to him from mumbai just for installation.

he will do both kinds of installs depending on client need.if pure SQ is needed he can do just that..
He is a specialist is custom FG installation.if i dig, i think i can find some of his install photos

As for the sub mania in ICE
well in general ive seen people prefer umm lets say.... a FUN install in cars
something you can flaunt and enjoy too
hence the SUB craziness

as for why 2 subs are used in car audio
well there are many reasons
one is SPL guys - i dont need to explain there
Now SQ guys sometimes do swear by 2 subs ( i dont completely agree but havig tasted a dual sub i must say that it will do SQ and is a bit more umm....fun too)
in fact the best SQ car ive heard uses two subs in isobaric loading

SPL guys find it easier to find amps that will drive 2 moderately speced subs than a monster that will drive one 15incher that will produce the same SPL output

I too have a swift fitter with a Pioneer + Sony explode on four doors. i really enjoy the set up.. especially when i do long distance. and honestly the best music system i have is my car

perhaps an ipod compatible head unit with two multi-way JBL paper cones on the rear shelf without a subwoofer would be good for music.

if you want a subwoofer, then soomoku (mumbai) have good ones, though they do not integrate well with the main speakers.

free air subwoofers are not good at all

my two cents, but try not to spend cash on ICE

oh yeah, blue-tooth compatibility of the head unit is a must

You can check this one listed in ebay. It is with 7 inch screen double din dvd player with GPS too. The best one in its price. It has subout for ext.amp too.

That is the real truth .. any one who has explored good quality home audio will never like to put more money in car ..
I suggest at max 15k should be the budget ..even 10k will do with pioneer 6050 HU (discontinued,take the newer avail model )as i replied in the previous thread ..

yes , bass and party lovers can invest more ..
