Looking for recommendation of home theatre setup

I have recently bought edifier r1700bt book shelf speaker primarily for my samsung tv but tv has only hdmi port...so I am looking forward to buy an AVR for movie and music purpose... please suggest a good AVR in decent budget and hdmi support for tv....so that I can use my active speakers also

Why do you need an AVR ? The AVR would be beneficial only if you plan to add a full array of center / surround passive speakers later on ( i don't think Edifier comes with separate centers / rear speakers). Else you can opt for a processor too if you are only looking for HT codecs/ processing ( although not sure how you plan to build an ecosystem around Edifier)

Actually going by the reviews and budget constraints I have ordered edifier R1700 bt primarily for tv and music but honestly I didn't like them much...plus I am not able to take full advantage of them with tv ( Hdmi ARC) so thinking of setting up a home theatre system gradually.... Was looking for an AVR which would support active speakers as well untill I buy 5.1 system for it

You need to connect passive speakers (and maybe an active sub) to an AVR. Any decent pair of passive speakers alone will cost you more than the edifiers. To connect your edifiers to TV - get an hdmi to optical/rca converter for less than 1000 bucks on amazon.

If you don’t like the sound of edifiers, you should consider taking demo of speakers with the avr model you’re planning to buy. Your city will have a number of hifi shops.
