I have a pair of speakers in which the woofers are in separate enclosures (mid and tweeter is in a smaller satellite enclosure). The enclosure for the woofers are around 38" tall by 11" deep by 22" wide. They contain a simple 12" woofer and I'm looking for suggestions for upgrading the woofer for deeper lows and overall better quality at a reasonable price. The enclosures are 3/4" MDF. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Bowers and wilkins - British.
The 801 woofer was supposed to hit 19 hz. It was also in the PCS8 - trapezoidal cabinet. Awesome.
But a lot of others - altec, jbl, EV all will easily hit the low 20's and sound awesome, and be a lot cheaper.

Cool.

The current 12" woofer is a generic one from MCM Electronics. It just doesn't have a punchy deep sound considering it being in a large sealed enclosure. Do you think swapping it out with one of the types you mention would improve it? Would porting it also make a difference?

SVS Sub PB1000/PB2000 are another good contenders for hitting low frequencies. SVS Subs have very positive feedback by the FMs in the group. Check it out.
