Good news who were inclined towards pioneer AV receiver or low cost future proof receiver...Priced very reasonably less than $300 and Amazon is taking pre-orders for this.

Amazon.com: Pioneer VSX-820-K Audio Video Receiver: Electronics

Any members in this forum owns pioneer receiver / kindly give their comments against some amps like marantz and denon which will be helpful.

Regards

Hi,

Operating the Pioneer VSX 519K for the last 1 month with Wharf Moviestar 70+ speaker package. Extremely clear and crisp sound reproduction. This is a wee bit better for music, even though movies come out great for my not-so discerning ears.

The 519 is still a bit costly in India..... I got a negotiated cost of INR 20 K, while the same model is available in the US for $ 200.

Amazon says
Shipping: Currently, item can be shipped only within the U.S.

Theyre mostly for htib quality speakers and dont allow much manual configs. The price is also double in india so no ty. I know someone who opened it up and saw a tiny little transformer with minimal parts inside and also said it dosnt allow you to run the amp without a sub, auto config will force you to send low freqs to a sub even if its not there.

So no ty, I'd take an old 2nd hand model without any of the newer features like true hd etc and rather have the amp to physically be able to produce good sound rather than rely on automated systems.

only worth it if one gets it at the price the us gets it for imo. Better vfm to buy something higher in india but hey I hate transformers so anyone with access and ok with trasnformers its good in that regard.

Your better inputs if you have pioneer will be appreciated not your interest will help other members. Thanks for understanding.:)

I dont understand what you mean.. my inputs were

- When I was auditioning and researching the 8xx series for my own purchase, I didnt find it as vfm as people in the us may find it. It might have a lot of features but its better suited for htibs. (In india since its price would be near the 25k mark its not good vfm compared to the nearby denons.)

- If someone can get it from the us and run it on transformer than its ok ( otherwise it's better to get have a tendency to die from power problems and take the products along with it.)

- The new 8xx series also has a small transformer and cannot drive as well as the 9xx series or the older 8xx series / 5xx series.

- Importing it from amazon.com is not possible because it is US only delivery and regardless of where you get it from the price will rack up due to volumetric weight kill its vfm.

- The automatic configuration feature does not allow the amp to send lf to front pair if you have large towers and cuts off fronts at 50hz and sends to phantom sub if you dont want to use a sub.

- A 2 year old 2nd hand model of a better amp in india is better VFM than the 8xx series. The 9xx / 5xx series is superior in audio and internals, maybe not features.

I do not understand what you mean by my input and not my interest will benefit others. How can you have accurate inputs without interest?? Am I misunderstanding something?

Core!

I am not confused about ur reply.

We need suggestion against the Pioneer VSX-820K if possible comparisions with Marantz & Denon. Please note that equivalent system will be made in Asia also soon. Anywhere you have seen with good feautures??? that also futureproof?? for this price??

Please note that discussion is to help only to get those kind of sytem who are in that affordalbe price bracket.. You & myself will be able to afford a 40K for an xxxx receiver, but not all.

So our input on an particular product mentioned shall be specificaly on feautures / It has more feautures than an $1000 receiver and also it can drive your speaker also:p? do you agree..

Not the transformers issue is going to help and we have discussed a lot about it and also shipping thru AMZ.

Trust now you will understand my point to the core.

Ahh, yes I dont have anything to suggest on comparisons but I can tell you the SQ of a denon 1610 will be better than the new 8xx series.

The 1610 comes to around 26k, but this one in india will be just a couple or 3 thousand less.

I was actually considerring the pioneer till I found the amp I am with right now, avr 693 which I picked up for 25k ( used to be 35 where as the pioneer is meant for the Rs 14-15000 bracket in us market )

I actually didnt have the budget to afford a 40k amp ( I wish I did lol )
But yes it can drive speakers with features for a good price point I agree, but so can the HK avr247 and denon 1610. Given these 3 models, I'd probably pick the denon for SQ, HK / pio 8xx series for features ( I like the ipod usb feature )

How exactly would you get it shipped from amazon without the volumetric weight pushing price up?
