Hi,

Can you tell me the best price for a Marantz avr SR5007. The best quote I have got is Rs.46k (with bill & warranty) and am not sure if I should negotiate further.

Also, is there a possibility to find the Marantz SR7005 somewhere in India?

Thanks!

thanks shuv, went ahead and purchased it for 46k.

I am happy with the sound quality, but with 100 watts per channel output it doesn't get loud unless I increase the volume to more than its 60% level (65 plus in the display with the max being 98).

My earlier receiver with 65 watts per channel output was reasonably loud even at 50% volume level.

Is it something to do with the calibration of the volume knob?

What are the speakers that you own ? You will need to tweak the speaker settings in the AVR...

I tried recalibrating, but that didn't help things.

Is there a chance that the volume control is non-linear with the new receivers?

This is the case with Denon receivers as well. You have to increase the volume above 60 to get moderate sound. Above this level the volume increase quickly.

this is pretty weird because the older Denon receivers seemed to be more linear (just upgraded from more than a decade old Denon AVR 1601).

infact I had set a volume limit of 70 in my Marantz SR5007 initially and reached that in no time :D

what must be the normal volume level in terms of db? When I used the db scale, I had to listen at 14 db to get decent sound effects. Is this too loud by any chance?

Did you get a chance to tweak the speaker settings in the On Screen Display menu of AVR ?...

Each speaker has a volume settings in decibel Db from 0 - 12..... What is your current settings ?

I have all the channels set to 0 except the center. Center has been set to 3

Now that I think about it, I have the same issue. I have a 1909 and a new 2113. The 2113 needs to be cranked hard vis-a-vis the 1909.

Have checked using the same set of speakers in the same room. Utilizing th Audeyssey Auto thingy.

Keep the center channel @ maximum....Increase other speakers to one less than the center channel..Nothing wrong in that....Now you should be able to get good volume than before (In display)
