Marantz CD player CD6002 vs (PhilipsTDA1541 chip based) DIY DAC!!

Well,my another Q is not answered (HD)

This particular NOS DAC will not support HD encoded media output as it only supports 16/44.1.

I have a feeling a NOS DAC is what I need to enjoy Carnatic music for a more "analog" sounding setup. Correct me if I am wrong :)

Cheers

Well, my another Q is not answered (HD)

Hi spirovious, sorry skipped your question somehow. Well, I believe PhilipsTDA1541 chip is a true 16bit with non-oversampling mode at 44,1Khz:sad:. I didnt try 24bit/96Khz though, because for that I need a PC with a good soundcard which provides 24bit/96Khz digital out. Now again the original source is a problem, cause CD itself 16bit/44.1Khz, and ripping for CD is not an good idea, as digital data only can be interpolated not reproduced. And then I need a good source like SACD or specially recorded material, which is not my normal listening.

Thanks for you all for confirming that.
Some of the chip accepts HD & downsamples to 16bit.
