Marantz AVR owners - Please respond

Can you guys please update me on the experience with Marantz AVR ?

Please reply with your AVR model & the speakers you're using. It will be great if you can mention the priority on Movies & Music as well.

Thanks in advance

Im using marantz sr5600..i think it takes the edge off an HT track.its good for music. But i feel movie tracks lose some impact. Some people like that smooth presentation. It can tame a bright speaker. If you are more into movies i suggest Onkyo/Yamaha etc.

I am using Marantz AVR NR1402 for last 1 year with PSB ALpha B1 fronts & Psb sub 125 and for surrounds & centre I use leftovers from Logitech Z-5500.
It is equaly good for Music & Movies. My priority is Music and I am quite satisfied with it.

SR 5007, Focal Chorus 706 + 700cc, ProFx surrounds and Klipsh KSW12. 100% movies and gaming.

Really impressed. I find it way better than the comparable Denon 2213 which I have in another room. Very balanced and soothing sound but can be a party animal if you want it to be! Build quality feels better than the current Denons. More like the early 2000 Denons.

Thanks Shuv.

I have shortlisted Focal for my upgrade.

Chorus 714 + Chorus CC 700 ( Price range is same as Dali Zensor 7 )

How good is your center Chorus CC 700 for Movies ?

Having compared the Denon and Marantz in the same room, I completely agree.

My observations @http://www.hifivision.com/surround-amplifiers-receivers/51831-marantz-receivers-availability-pricing.html

Can't believe they are from the same parent company.

Absolutely no complaints with the CC700. Its really powerful.

In your shoes though, I would get a pair of 706s instead of the 714s and spend the extra amount on the sub.

Was getting bored today and hooked up my Usher S520s and S525 with the 5007. Again, its very nice. Pumps out sound with more authority vis-a-vis the Denon.

@ BLASTO - I got the 5007 mid or end last year for 52k. 58k for the 5008 is a good deal me thinks!

So are you using it as 3.1 system ? ( 2 BS - 1 center & Sub )

Do you think its a good idea to go for Dali Zensor 7 FS and Chorus CC 700 ?

Hi

The Marantz NR 1402 and NR 1601 are good. Got each of these AVRs hooked up to Quad Lite and Boston Acoustic Soundware XS 5.1 speakers.. SOund quality is amazing for music, movies and gaming....no complaints....over 15 months now...These AVRs work well for a room size of 200-250 sq ft with 50% volume.

The SR series has a double power output when compared to the NR series...features are more or less the same. I would be going in for an SR series which is good for room sizes larger than 250 sq ft.

@ Arjun4 - Its a 5.1 setup. Don't mix the fronts. If DALI then all fronts should be DALI and ideally from the same series.

After Audyssey setup, your AVR will treat the front left and right speakers as "Small" and divert the bulk of the low frequencies to the sub. Why waste money on a floor stander then? Even in Stereo mode, Audyssey is active unless you manually deactivate it.

Hello guys I require a Marantz SR 5006 or above models for purchase,.. I required used since, they are very much expensive in the fresh market. I am in coimbatore and any direct owners willing to sell can post in this.. Thanks!!

Muruganandam, Try contacting dev from bass and treble showroom in ramanadhapuram. He deals with used hifi also. You might get lucky.

@Muruganandam
Contact Mr.Dev of Basstreble, coimbatore. He is a nice guy.
I will PM his contact details if you wish.

Using the Marantz SR 5007 with Monitor Audio M Series. The preouts (all channels) for Marantz along with the biamping option work wonderfully well. Bought the SR 5007 for 40k last year.

Thank you guys ! Finally I'm joining the Marantz club !

Its SR6008 !
