jhakass!
but im quite certain you needed a spray gun
also i see at least two coats of "clear" there!

cmon everyone cant do this at home!

Its look great and looks like that you have used the Automotive Paint and process with Clear and Hardner on it, only then such a finish could be achieved.

@ kaushik, can you share the which branch you used and what are paints you used to like primer, clear paint etc. i am planning to do piant job inside of my Coolermaster HAF 932 case.

Not to hijack this thread. But would like to share some info on how this is done. The only time I have seen this before was on team-bhp on a sub-woofer enclosure for a car. Kaushik's process must be similar but usually his DIY posts are more detailed and easier. So, while we wait that, here are some pics. Sorry I am unable to post pics, just links since I am at work;).

I think Kaushik is pulling all our legs by putting up a digitally manipulated picture. It is like having an Arnold's body with Amitabh's face. :)

Cheers

I am here..........

I am very sorry to be late ..I just assumed 1 or 2 reply ..But ,OMG so many ppl wanna do it ..

As always i am like a messenger...that case was done by someone else..not me!;)

Quick summery:
1.you dont need spray gun ,aerosol spray cans only do the spraying..
2.you will have to do many hours of sanding

here is lil bit from the link

"Youll need: a can of primer, a can of spraypaint in your choice of color, and a can of clearcoat. For surface preparation, youll need a sheet each of 220, 320, and 400 grit wet/dry sandpaper, and a sanding block. For finish sanding, youll need a sheet each of 600, 1000, and 1500 grit wet/dry sandpaper, plus rubbing compound. Youll also want two or three clean cotton cloths."

The paint aerosol is just 200/- Rs..at a nearby store ,i checked.
I hope bangalore market has all spray cans....take it as a learning to sand surface project ...
but the end product is remarkable....if you do wrong, you can sand again and proceed..that is the best part

Can we do this wood too? I was thinking of a DIY small box cabinet with mirror finish
wood needs a little more prefinish because wood absorbs paint, the first step is is learn how to fill pores ..:

A "Piano Finish" Will Require The Filling Of Pores

wood filler /primer stage once done the spray paint will be effective..
take a few small pieces of wood and check for the best results..you will know amount of filler needed.

Where can we get the aerosol cans for cheap? Looking for metallic colors..
automotive stores keep these i.e. the ones who sell car painting stuff

also hardware stores...ask them they will guide you...
I forgot the name of brand I asked, that was 200Rs.

duplicolor cans are 5$ so locally they will be max 250Rs.
check some forums ,metallic color finish procedure may be
different.

There is an automotive paint product called Compaint and I am sure they make metallic colors too. I had bought a can of matte black paint long time back for Rs.200 if I remember right.

There is a shop on N.R Road (other side of S.P Road) from whom I bought Caulk(Silicon Gel). I saw that he stocked aerosol cans with him. It is on my way back home so, I shall check about metallic colors and costs and update this thread soon.
