Please suggest a modification in terms of front speakers with a component system for 2013 model Dzire VXI; to match with head unit there, it is Nippon Audiotronix (model no.NP74LA). Does it have a pre-out? in case I wish to have an AMP later and change the rear speakers too.
Genre I listen to is Rock, World music, Classical and Bollywood too; Please suggest a good Component system which can be driven with stock HU itself as I am not going to have an AMP as of now; have heard names like JBL, Polk and Rockford Fosgate but am not aware as to which model number may suit my need.

Can someone please give me detailed specs of NP74LA or data sheet, please!

Thank you so much Matbhuvi for the reply!

How would you compare Rockford Fosgate R1675-S(components), JBL (GTO-609C) with HAT Imagine?

Just checked HAT website, Where can I get them in Mumbai, I believe there are so many fake ones for each of the celebrated Brands!
I know I threw too many questions; let me Thank you once again.

HAT is distributed by Beesound in India. They have dealers in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Cochin. I am not sure about mumbai. You can ask them in their facebook page. They could probably arrange shipping from Bangalore. I am not a fan of Polk or JBL in car audio. Too bright for my taste. Haven't listened to Rockford R1675. Haven't heard any reviews about them as well. But, i have heard Imagine. I own its higher model Unity. So, i know its flavor and i can recommend it.

Hi Matbhuvi,

You seem to be the only one who heard both HAT and PHD.
Which amoung the two do you recommend for upgrading stock speakers without replacing the HU?

I like laid back, mellow sound without hint of brightness and need beautiful midrange.

Thanks, in advance.

@Matbhuvi, someone on my preference for good midbass suggested Helix (b-series, possibly B62C) front components, what is take on this?

HAT has a flatter frequency response. It is very neutral and have beautiful vocals. On the other hand PHD has a U shaped frequency response. Has thundering midbass which is best in class and beautifully detailed highs. I would say 90% of the people would prefer PHD for its dynamics. It will give you a instant 'vow' factor. HAT on the other hand HAT has only one USP. Mesmerizing vocals. I don't know what they do and how they do..probably some bump in frequency response around 150-250..they render vocals so beautifully. That is why i am quite biased to HAT. So, take it with a pinch of salt. You might not like what i like. If midrange is what you go after, then go for HAT. But, don't pair it with bright pioneer HUs :). Another component that i can recommend is Sinus Live speakers. They are distributed by Power Zone, Chennai. They are also very neutral like HAT and would cost slightly cheaper than HAT.

I haven't listened to Helix speakers. I have listened to bloody brilliant Helix P400 amp. They are excellent brand for sure. Sorry, i can't comment about the speakers though. But, you can close your eyes and go for PHD if you are after midbass. I have seen 25K PHD component speaker easily 'thump' over 50-100K other brand speakers like HAT, Rainbow, Focal, German Maestero, Dynaudio etc etc. It has a very very addictive midbass.

I second mathbhuvi. I am using HAT Unity and I had heard the PHDs before and I didnt like it, I felt headache due to the pronounced mid bass. What I suggest you is to get the PHDs only if you are not planning to get sub or a 6-8" sealed sub, else HAT (should not be paired with a bright sounding source player.)

Guys,

What HUs are you pairing your HAT components with?
I have heard pioneer is out, but which matches HAT well?

An Update:

Checked out Sajjad4Joy's MF6.2 setup with JVC player (and no amps).
Bass is great but vocals could be better. It really gave an impression of a sub woofer in the back. I think it should be still more better with amp in the picture.

Looks like for a car audio setup, I actually prefer thumping bass kind of speakers rather than midrange centric speakers like my thiels. I realized I don't even hear much of live music or orchestral types or slow music in the car but prefer adrenaline rush kind of music, trance, pop, ARR numbers to keep pushing you when you drive a car like civic.

Looks like HAT is out of the picture then?
How does Rainbow compare to both of these?

Thanks in advance,

Actually, if you are hearing the bass from the back, then it is bad integration.
PHD will suit you more. Rainbow has 10 different speaker models if i am not wrong. The rating would go from below avg to A+ based on the model. I didn't like the dreamline series much. It was bit vocal centric i believe. Their vandium subs were really good. Not much experience with their other models.
