Hi all,

Bought an old Marantz CD 94 mk-I player from Australia. When it got delivered, all switches and display are working, but not reading CD (shows error). Any suggestion of an expert, who can fix it along with recapping with higher quality components and modify along the line of what is explained on Medialux blog. Have a NOS CDM1 transport and planning to buy a TDA1541 S1 chip for it.

I am also using CD-94. I am stationed at Bangkok. I also have DAC with 4 TDA1541 S1 (two per channel). If you have NOS CDM1, then you should be able to find someone in India. My best wishes. Let me know if you need any inputs from me.

Thank you Karan. I'm also looking for a S1 single crown. Where did you do the modification? I want to do a BNC output also, so that I can use it as a transport

I had bought USD 500 per pair which according to me is high. I used 1 for Sony CDP-555ESD. I was desperate at that time and the condition was really good and also both DAC chips were from the same batch. So i bought. To be honest, USD 250 for one DAC is way too high which i am thinking in the hindsight. I suggest you to have a look at ebay for at least 3-6 months. If you can not find below USD 200, then i will sell mine to you at USD 200 (discount 50$). To be fair to you, please listen carefully TDA1541, 1541A and other versions, some of my friends prefer 1541A or 1541 to 1541 S1. My personal opinion, S1 is good overall and 1541A is slightly more musical. It all comes to personal taste. Have a great weekend.
